Vienna is home to the oldest zoo in the world—SchÖnbrunn Zoo. It has gone through several {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(战争) and has a history of being 271 years old.

When the zoo was set up in 1752, the public were only allowed to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(进入) it on Sundays, and they had to be "well-dressed". Last year, the zoo celebrated its 270^th {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(生日), which made it the oldest running zoo in the world.

Today, SchÖnbrunn Zoo tries to meet the challenges of caring for animals to the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(最高的) standards in Europe. It has won the prize for Europe's Best Zoo recently. SchÖnbrunn Zoo protects animals' homes both in the wild and in the zoo by {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(提供) support for the zoo to protection projects, inspiring visitors to take action and taking part in{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(科学) research to improve their knowledge and understanding of wild animals and their living place.

In {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(总共), SchÖnbrunn Zoo has over 700 different kinds of animals today, receiving more than two {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(百万) visitors each year. Some of their star animals include koalas and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(熊猫), and there are many other interesting areas, including the aquariums(水族馆) and monkey houses.

SchÖnbrunn Zoo may has {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(已经) been 271 years old, but it intends to stick around for a long time.

These days, if you want to travel from New York to Beijing, the flight will take about 16 hours. You also have to wait at the airport, and sometimes you have to transfer onto a different airplane. If you add up all of the time, the trip will take at last 20 hours. But in the future, the trip from New York to Beijing might only take two hours.

Right now, a company is developing (开发) something called ET3—"evacuated tube (真空管) transport technology". Here's how it works. A tube goes all the way from New York to Beijing. The tube is only a few meters wide. Capsules (舱) move through the tube. Six people can sit in one capsule.

For international travel, the capsules can travel at about 6,500 kilometers per hour. Why can they travel so fast? Because there isn't any air in the ET3 tubes, the capsules can move at such a high speed. Also, the capsules are quite light. Each only weighs 183 kilograms. There are other advantages (优点) of ET3. Because it use electricity, it's quite clean. Also, it's a lot quieter than air planes and cars. Last, ET3 tube and capsules don't need much building materials.

Of course, there are still some problems about ET3. The biggest problem is that right now it would cost a lot to build ET3. To lower the cost, we will need much better technology.

However, it's still exciting to think of how ET3 will change the travel in the future. Who knows? Maybe someday you can have lunch in New York and dinner in Beijing.

Chinese Teachers' Day is a festival celebrating the over 2,000-year tradition of respecting teachers and education in China.

The history of Teachers' Day dates back to the Han Dynasty. According to record, during the Han and Jin Dynasties, on August 27 of the lunar calendar each year, the birthday of Confucius(孔子), the emperor would go to the Confucius Temple and worship(敬拜) the great teacher, and would also invite royal teachers to dinner. And on that day, teachers enjoyed a day's vacation and were given dried meat as gifts. Besides, best teachers who were chosen from the whole country would be given 500 liang silver coins each as prizes. In the Qing Dynasty, well performing teachers would be given official titles or promoted to higher positions.

Normally, in ancient time, there was no fixed tuition fee(学费); the parents paid with money or food.

In private schools, teachers would receive money or gifts from the host family at certain festivals or at the beginning and end of each term. The festivals in which teachers received gifts were different in different areas, while the most valued ones were the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-autumn Festival and Chinese New Year, as well as Confucius' birthday and the private teacher's birthday.

Among all the gift-giving festivals, the first meeting gift was a must. There was a tradition that when students met their teachers for the first time, they needed to kowtow(磕头) to Confucius' picture and then to their private teachers, before giving their teachers a "gift".

It's 6:00 p. m. Kate's family are having dinner. There is rice, eggs, salads, strawberries and some vegetables like tomatoes, onions and carrots on the table. But Kate doesn't like vegetables. She doesn't want to eat them and puts her bowl away.

" Kate," says her father.

" Where are my hamburgers?" asks Kate.

" Don't think about them. We need to eat healthily," says Mom.

" How about some ice- cream, then?" asks Kate.

" Kate," Dad calls her name again. He thinks the dinner is nice.

 Kate takes a bite(咬一口) of the tomato and quickly spits(吐出) it back into the bowl.

" Kate! Room! Now!" says Dad. He doesn't like her bad eating habits.

 Kate runs to her room and cries, but she soon stops. Usually, her parents will get her some other food she likes if she doesn't eat dinner. So she waits(等待).

 At about 7:00 p. m., Mom tries to get Kate to eat some vegetables, but she says no.

 At 9:00 p. m., Kate wants to eat something, but her parents still don't give her anything to eat.

 At 10:00 p. m., Kate goes to the kitchen and sees some vegetables on the table. They don't look so bad. And you know what? They don't taste so bad, either.

 Kate learns that she should eat healthy food and live a healthy life.
