湖北省武汉市黄陂区部分学校2017届九年级下学期英语5月模拟考试
In 2012, I had just become better from a serious illness when I received an invitation to a writer's conference in Orlando, Florida. My family suggested that a hmight be just what the doctor orders, so off I went.
I was rather t, arriving in the Sunshine State, but I managed to catch a taxi to my hotel and settle in. The next morning, I took another taxi to the shopping centre to buy a few gifts. Later I went to a café to have lunch, but all the tables were full of people. Then I heard a fvoice saying, “You can smy table.”
I thankfully sat down with the old lady and we had a happy lunch together. As the mdrew to a close, she asked how long I would be in Orlando. I had already told her that I hadn't hired(雇用) a car, and I hadn't realized how etaking taxis would be, after a while she said, “My dear, don't use any more taxis. I`m retired and it would be my pleasure to drive you wherever you wish.” I told her that I couldn't put her to that t, but she took no notice of my protests(反对). She asked me where I was staying and the next morning she was wat my apartment at the exact time to take me to Disney World. She spent some time with me before leaving me to explore(探索) alone. At the end of the day, she returned to take me back to where I stayed. I oher money but she refused to take any.
I`ll never forget that wonderful lady who, through her kindness, fmy short holiday in Florida with wonderful memories.
