What kind of transport will you choose when traveling between cities in China？Many people may like traveling by train because it's safer and cheaper.Now the high﹣speed railways have connected eastern China as well as the south and the north.

A new high﹣speed railway opened on Sept.10th，2016.It connects Zhengzhou in Henan with Xuzhou in Jiangsu.With this railway，China's high﹣speed railways are over 20

China's high﹣speed railways are developing fast now.Behind it，there is the country's growing need for transportation.According to Xinhua News，China's high﹣speed trains gave 961 million trips to people last year.

Yet，China's building of high﹣speed railways is still going on.China plans to have 38，000 kilometers of high﹣speed railway by 2025.

Jon is a writer and painter. He's written four books for kids. They have been published in many languages. Tina,the reporter of the school newspaper,asked Jon five questions about his work. 

Did you always like to write and draw？

In the third grade,I started writing stories. And I make1 to go with them. Now I still work like that way. I don't have a huge interest in making pictures if there's not a story. 

What's your process for creating a story？

I2 start with an ending in mind,or even a whole story. I start with the setup. Hopefully,that setup gives birth to some characters（角色）. The characters have to feel3 . If I feel I'm forcing（强迫）them to do what they're doing,the book won't work,even if the story is funny. 

How do you know a story is 4 ？

I tinker（修补）with it until it feels like it has ended. I like to try to change the idea of what an ending feels like. It might not be a traditional ending. But it will still make something to click in your head,so you say,"That's done. "

How do you make pictures？

I do 5 tests. I might paint 20 big rocks on a page. I'll circle my favorite four rocks. On my computer,I put those four rocks with all my other pictures and paint again. I try to make the pictures feel connected. 

What is your favorite part of writing books for kids？

Kids are careful readers,and they focus hard on what they read. I always tell myself 6 I wrote all the stories. Yes,I want to give them knowledge and happiness and I feel happy I have made it. 

(_____) This is Qiqi. He is a great teacher, Confucius(孔子). He has many students. He teaches his students to be kind and to study all the time. Confucius and his students study really hard. His students love him because he is friendly.

(_____) This is Peter. He plays the cook Ding. He is good at cutting up oxen(牛). Zhuangzi writes this story.

(_____) This is Frank. This is a story about a farmer and a rabbit. Frank is the farmer. The rabbit crashes into a tree and dies(撞死在树上). The farmer gets it easily.So he waits for rabbits to die here every day.

I have two new teachers in the new school year.

Miss Anna is our {#blank#}1{#/blank#} teacher. She's from the USA. We learn to draw well in her class. She can make everything beautiful. That's cool! Miss Anna is {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. She often asks us to do a good job. Mr Gray is our {#blank#}3{#/blank#} teacher. He's from the UK. We learn to add and count the numbers in his class. Mr Gray is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. He can play many games with the numbers. We often play the number games with him. We have lots of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} in his class.

Last summer holiday Su Nan went to Beijing with his parents .They went there by train and stayed there for three days .On the first day .They went to Tian'anmen Square .It was big and great .There were many people .The next day ,they visited the museum and ate delicious Beijing Duck and bought some gifts .The last day they went to the Great Wall. They took many photos there.

Tom is a singer.He likes singing very much.Every morning，he gets up very early.He does morning exercises for 20 minutes.Then he sings for 30 minutes.After that，he has breakfast at about 6：30.He goes to work at 6：45.It's very far to his workplace.So he usually goes there by subway.Tom lives in a very big house.He likes playing the piano in the evening.Sometimes he reads newspapers（报纸）.But he never watches TV.He often writes e﹣mails to his parents.He loves them.
