Confucius（孔子）was one of the most important people in human history.He taught people to be polite and love each other.His ideas changed people's life.

Early Life

Confucius was born around 551 B.C.in China.That was over 2，500 years ago.Some say that Confucius was born into a rich family.Others say he was born poor.One thing is clear：Confucius lived during a time of great trouble.

Philosophy（哲学）and Teachings

Different groups in China were fighting.People forgot about good manners（礼仪）.This made Confucius sad.He wanted people to be kind and polite to each other.He believed in the idea of"ren".That means "loving others"."People should follow the Golden Rule，"he said.The Golden Rule is"to treat others as you would like to be treated".He believed that a good leader should treat his followers with care.This would help the leader set a good example.Confucius thought leaders could make people follow the law（法律）

Death

Confucius died at the age of 71 or 72.After his death，he was honored as a man of wisdom.His ideas helped shape the Chinese government.Today he is known as one of the most important teachers in Chinese history.

At present, a number of people are chasing fashion. They spend much money chasing fashion. At the same time, it brings us negative effects (负面影响) that may influence the development of our society. 

What's fashion? The meaning of fashion can not be explained by a simple word. Everyone has a different understanding of fashion. Some people think that popularization is fashion, and some people think that highlighting personality (彰显个性) is fashion. In fact, fashion is a popular style (of clothes, behavior, etc. ) at a given time or place. Fashion is changing constantly, so it's always different. 

It's not necessary for young people to follow fashion. One should have his own style. One should be changing himself to the situation, but it doesn't mean that he should follow fashion. We should consider whether fashion is helpful. I think that following it has more disadvantages than advantages. To follow fashion is to waste money, energy and time. If you follow fashion, you'll lose your own style. If everyone follows the same fashion, there won't be differences in the world.

There is a Chinese idiom(习语)" taolimantianxia", referring to a teacher who has taught so many students that they spread across the country like peach and plum(李子) trees. Why are students compared to these two types of trees?

The id iom comes from Zizhi, an official( 大臣) who lived in the state of Wei during the Spring and Autumn Period(BC770-BC476). Zizhi was a knowledgeable person. But he was not well liked by the king at the time, so he had to leave his state. To make a living, he opened a private school and started to teach students.

As a teacher, Zizhi was kind and wise. He chose students regardless of(不论) their wealth or social status(社会地位). He often pointed at a peach and a plum tree in his yard when asking his students to work hard." You should become a useful person and do work to benefit(使受益) society, just like when the peach and plum trees bloom and yield(产出) fruit," he said.

Keeping these words in their minds, many of Zizhi's students went on to different places around the country, achieving great things along the way. They would plant peach and plum trees to show their respect for their teacher.

When Zizhi traveled around the country and saw his students and the trees they planted, he was very pleased." My students are like peach and plum trees. They are everywhere, and they have achieved great results."

Since then," peach and plum trees" has been used to refer to students who have been successful in their post- study careers.

36-­year­-old California Dad Sholom Solomon is a funny photo lover. And he just might be taking the lead as this year's most awesome dad. Recently Solomon and his daughter have spent their time taking lots of funny and amazing photos while wearing creative clothes. 

Solomon said，"I have always taken funny pictures even before Zoe was born. When she came along I wanted to include her so that one day she can look back at funny memories with her dad. "

The moon was behind the clouds. And there weren't many stars in the sky. It was a dark night. I saw a glow (光) in my neighbour's (邻居的) kitchen. I thought he was having a night meal, so I went back to my bed. 

Soon there was a smell of burning (烧焦的味道) in the air and I thought there was something wrong. I jumped out of bed quickly and went out to make sure. I saw a fire coming out of my neighbour's kitchen. Then I shouted, "Fire! Fire!" But no one in the neighbourhood heard my shouts for help. 

I ran into my house, called the firemen and went back to my neighbour's house. I knocked on the door hard and called out my neighbour's name, but there was no answer. Finally, I got into the house and rescued a cat and a dog.

I tried to pour (泼) water through the kitchen window but it didn't work. It was a big fire. Luckily, the firemen arrived about ten minutes later and stopped the fire. 

When my neighbour came back, he was sad for his kitchen but he thanked me for calling the firemen and for saving his pets. He wanted to give me some money but I did not accept it. 

Weeks later, my neighbour had a new kitchen. He invited me to see his new kitchen and we enjoyed a big meal there. It made me very happy. After that, he became my best friend.
