Stampedes (踩踏), earthquakes and fires are the main accidents at school.

 When students around you begin to push (推), just stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around.

When earthquakes happen, you can get under a desk quickly and hold on.  If you are outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees, and powerlines (电线).

 It's better to put something over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won't breathe (吸) in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them cough and they can't breathe. That's very dangerous!  Then you can breathe some fresh air.

    Deserts are found where there is little rainfall or where rain for a whole year falls in only a few weeks' time. Ten inches of rain may be enough for many plants to survive (存活) if the rain is spread throughout the year, If it falls within one or two months and the rest of the year is dry, those plants may die and a desert may form.

    Sand begins as tiny pieces of rock that get smaller and smaller as wind and weather wear them down. Sand dunes (沙丘) are formed as winds move the sand across the desert. Bit by bit, the dunes grow over the years, always moving with the winds and changing the shape. Most of them are only a few feet tall, but they can grow to be several hundred feet high.

    There is, however, much more to a desert than sand. In the deserts of the southwestern United States, cliffs (悬崖) and deep valleys were formed from thick mud that once lay beneath (在……之下) a sea more than millions of years ago. Over the centuries, the water dried up. Wind, sand, rain, heat and cold all wore away at the remaining rocks. The faces of the desert mountains are always changing--very, very slowly--as these forces of nature continue to work on the rock.

    Most deserts have a surprising variety of life. There are plants, animals and insects that have adapted (适应) to life in the desert. During the heat of the day a visitor may see very few signs of living things, but as the air begins to cool in the evening, the desert comes to life. As the sun begins to rise again in the sky, the desert once again becomes quiet and lonely.

Nowadays,as there are more choices for students,some students can't stand food in the school dining hall and they call the takeout(卖) food. Many students like ordering food instead of eating at the school dining hall. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The students can't choose what they want to eat. They can only eat the food provided by the dining hall.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} The answer is no. Most students can't make money,but ordering food is a little expensive. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Students only need to pay 10 yuan for one meal and there are always different dishes and one kind of soup. When ordering food,I have never found a dish which is less than 10 yuan,and the most important is that the food we order may be not clean.

As ordering takeout is getting more and more popular,many people may think it's a new thing in China. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} According to history books,Emperor Xiaozong liked to order takeout late at night. His servants then went around the city to pick up the dishes and bring them back to the palace.

Common people also ordered takeout. Restaurant waiters would go out into the streets and shout out which dishes could be ordered that day. People could then place an order. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

In the famous Song Dynasty painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival,a takeout worker can be seen with food in hand.

A. Compared with food in the restaurants,food in the school dining hall is much cheaper.

B. The reason is that some schools' dining halls only have one menu for each meal.

C. Later,takeout workers would bring food to their homes.

D. But in fact,there was takeout as far back as the Song Dynasty.

E. Is it wise to order food instead of eating at the dining hall?
