Kobe Bryant and LeBron James became NBA players when they graduated from high school. Their stories have encouraged many student basketball players in China to dream big. Kobe was born on August 23, 1978. He is an American professional basketball player. He plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. His nickname is "Black Mamba" or "Little Flying Man". LeBron James( born on December 30, 1984)is an American professional basketball player.He plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association.He is commonly nicknamed "King James" or "The Chosen One".

However, almost all professional players in China come from state-run (公立的) sports schools. This makes most talented student players in ordinary schools（普通学校） give up their dreams in sports, and concentrate on their studies instead .

The Nike High School League(耐克高中篮球联赛) gives Chinese school players a chance to play their games like never before. High school students from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei compete in the game.Although they have not yet become professional players ,their excellent performances are highly recognized(认可) by a number of people. Thousands of audience of members, including China national basketball team players Yi Jianlian and Ding Yanyuhang, watched the final of the league.

The Nike High School League encourages student players to keep making their basketball dreams come true.People hope they will work hard towards their goals and become professional plays in the future.

Last year, I went to asummer camp in the United States with my classmates. It was my first time to goabroad.

I lived with a hostfamily in Los Angeles for five days. My host family were friendly and gave melots of advice. For example, they said I should say "" excuse me"if I have to interrupt(打断) someoneor ask for directions.

l also took someclasses. They were different from the classes I've had back home. In the US, eachclass is like a seminar. Students join in groups, speaking freely andcreating a cheerful atmosphere(氛围). I hadto work hard to learn more vocabulary, sol could better communicate with my internationalclassmates. I used to pay little attention to my word usage (使用), but now I pay more attention.

During my visit, Ialso went to some famous universities in Boston, New York and Washington. Welearned about the history behind the universities. At MIT(麻省理工学院), we saw lots of names on a wall in the hall. The tour guide toldus they were the names of students who had lost their lives during wars. I wasinspired(鼓舞) by the fact that they fought for theircountry.

A young man with a large bag on his back came far away for a master(大师). He said, "Master, I feel so lonely(孤独的) and painful that the long trip makes me tired out. My shoes are worn out, my feet are cut, and my hands also hurt… Why can't my heart feel sunny?"

The master asked, "What do you put in your large bag?"

The young man said,"It is very important to me. Inside it I put the pain each time I fall, the tears(眼泪) each time I'm hurt, the trouble each time I feel lonely…Without it, I can't come here."

Then the master took the young man to the river where they crossed in a boat. On the other side of the river, the master said,'"Carry on with your journey, carrying the boat!"

"What? Carry the boat?" the young man was surprised. "It is so heavy. How can I carry it?"

"Yes, my kid. You can't carry it," the master just smiled and said. "When you cross the river, the boat is useful. But after crossing it, you will put down the boat and carry on. If not, it will become a burden (负 担). Pain, loneliness and tears — all these are useful to life. They can improve your life, but if you carry them all the time, they will become the burden to life. Put it down! Life can't bear(承受) a heavy burden."

The young man put down his bag and carried on. He walked easily and happily, and much faster than before.

On Saturday morning, every boy in town was happy, except Tom Sawyer. Tom's aunt said he had to paint the fence(围栏). It was thirty yards(码) long and three yards high! When he was working, some boys came along and made fun of him. 

Ben was the first one who came happily with an apple in his hand. 

"I'm going swimming," said Ben. "Do you want to come? Oh, you have to work, don't you?"

Tom got a little angry, but soon he had a wonderful idea. 

"Work?" he said. "I don't think this is work. It's fun. Does a boy get a chance like this every day?"

Ben thought about this. He was watching Tom's every move and was getting more and more interested. 

After a while, he said, "Tom, will you let me do some painting?"

"No way. You see. Aunt Polly wants it to be done properly. I'm the only one that can do it right."

"Oh, please, Tom," begged(恳求) Ben." I'll be really careful. Let me try! I'll give you my apple in return."

"Well, all right, Ben," said Tom. "But you must be careful."

He gave Ben his brush with worry on his face but joy in his heart. He started to eat Ben's apple. 

All day, boys passed by and wanted to paint. When Ben got tired, Billy began to paint. He gave Tom his favorite kite. Then Johnny gave him twelve marbles(玻璃球), and so on. 

That afternoon, Tom got many toys, and the fence got three coats of paint. Aunt Polly was so pleased when she saw the painted fence that she gave Tom a large cake!

Our life is becoming better and better now. Some people have a lot of money. They buy houses {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a swimming pool. They wear {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (beautiful) and look successful. Their houses are {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(huge) and more comfortable. Their cars are bigger and{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (expensive) than others'. Maybe your family is not as {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (rich) as theirs. Your house is smaller {#blank#}6{#/blank#} theirs. But you don't need {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(care) about these.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (important) thing for you to do is to work hard. 

I think you {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) a successful person like them in 20 years if you work hard from now on. You will have more hobbies, like taking photos and playing {#blank#}10{#/blank#}piano. I believe when you get success, you will help others in the world.
