A cold winter night, a girl quarreled (争吵) with her mother, then ran out of the house. When she went through a noodle shop, she suddenly felt very hungry.

The seller saw her standing there and asked, "Hey, little girl, you want to eat a bowl?"

"But... but I do not carry money..."she shyly replied to the man.

"Okay, I'll treat you. Come in. I will cook you a bowl."

A few minutes later, the seller brought her a bowl of noodles. After eating some pieces, the girl cried.

Wang Ming is 13 years old. He lives in the countryside in Suining. Today is his birthday. His parents make a nice dinner for him, but he says, "I don't want to have the dinner because my parents will leave me after the dinner. I don't want to let them go."

Wang Ming has the birthday with his parents for the first time in the past eight years. Eight years ago, his parents went to Fujian to work. They stayed and worked there.They have to go back to Fujian tomorrow. Wang Ming is not the only stay-at-home child（留守儿童）.In the country of China, there are many children staying at home without (没有) their parents. 

Stay-at-home children have a lot of problems. Most of them stay with their grandparents. Some of them don't study well because their parents can't help them with their study. But most of them study hard and are good with their classmates at school.

The Chinese government now is trying to solve their problems.

It took five tries and forty years for Xia Boyu, an amazing climber, to get to the top of the world.

On his first Qomolangma try in 1975, Xia got frostbite(冻疮) and had to have his feet—and later legs—amputated (截肢).

Xia went back again in 2014, 2015 and 2016. On that last try a strong snowstorm forced him to turn back less than 100 meters from the top.

"It's been a dream of mine for more than 40 years," Xia said. In 2018 Xia finally realized his dream, making him the first Chinese double amputee to summit(登顶) Qomolangma. "This time after 43 years, Qomolangma accepted me, finally," he said.

"Climbing the highest mountain in the world with prosthetics (假体) adds another level of difficulty, because it is difficult to feel the ground. Whatever you are standing on, what kind of roads you walk on, whether it is good or bad, they do not give you any feelings. You have to learn it day-to-day, to find the feeling," said Xia. He also said he had to use his body to keep balance as prosthetics cannot walk up and down like real legs. "I have to be stronger than others," he added.

"I have learned from my journey to the top that you should move forward bravely no matter what conditions you face. Never give up on your dream," said Xia.

One day, I went to the park with my family. I surprisingly found that a pige on was looking at {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(it) in the water! It was so interesting {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I became curious(好奇的) about pigeons. Then I did some research on pigeons. They {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(real) surprised me. 

I went to the library {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(read) some books about pigeons. There were over 200 kinds of pigeons. Some can fly several thousand {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(kilometre) and don't get lost. They can also fly at high speeds and that's as fast as my dad's car! What's more, they can also recognise themselves {#blank#}6{#/blank#} mirrors!

Pigeons are really {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(amaze)!I also asked my classmates to study what {#blank#}8{#/blank#} habits of pigeons were. At the end of the term, we have different {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(opinion). 

Now, I {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(become) more and more interested in pigeons and I'll keep learning more about them. Maybe I'll keep one at home in the future.
