I was going to spend four months in France learning French. I was feeling nervous {#blank#}1{#/blank#}this was my first time on a plane. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(luck), Alice, my sister, was going as well. The flight went by quickly because I was so busy talking with Alice about our trip {#blank#}3{#/blank#}how different French life might be from that back home. During the flight, we decided that we shouldn't spend too much time together, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}we wouldn't learn as much French.

Despite (尽管) our agreement, I felt {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(worry) that I wouldn't be able to speak much French. However, when my host family met me, I knew from the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (mother) smile that everything would be OK. It was still a bit stressful at first trying to understand and communicate, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}after a couple of weeks it became easier. I made friends with {#blank#}8{#/blank#}lovely young woman who was a neighbour of the family. In fact, I learnt lots of interesting words from {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(she), you know, the kind of things you don't find in books! She was always kind and encouraged me not to be afraid of making mistakes, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I felt less embarrassed when I used the wrong words.

All in all, my days in France left me really wonderful memories.

A few years ago we moved to a new city, so I had to change schools. On the first day at my new school, I was really {#blank#}1{#/blank#} . I found it hard to make new friends and hardly said a word to anyone for {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . When the morning break started, I went outside and stood on my own. I was feeling really lonely. Towards the end of break, a girl walked up to me. She introduced {#blank#}3{#/blank#} as Monica and started chatting right away. She was also quite new at the school and we soon {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we had a lot in common. We watched the same TV shows, listened to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} types of music, and we were both learning to play the guitar. Also, we lived just a few minutes' walk from each other! 

Monica and I have been really good friends since that day. Naturally we sometimes argue like everyone does but we're very close. 

My name is Jack. Let me tell you something about myself. Here is a photo 1 my room. My room is really tidy. And many things are in 2 room, like pens, books, shoes and so on. Look! My books 3 on the bookshelf. My shoes are under the bed. 4 are my pens? They are in my pencil box.

There 5 a bag and a tennis racket on the wall. You can see two pictures on the wall, 6 . I have a good eating habit. For breakfast, I eat some 7 and drink some milk. I eat some chicken and vegetables for 8 lunch. I never eat junk food 9 it's bad for our health. I often eat some salad and rice for dinner. After dinner, I usually 10 a walk with my parents. At ten o'clock, I go to bed.

I am Sandy Brown. Tony, Mary and I are in the same class. They are brother and sister but they don't like the same food.

 Mary doesn't want to be fat. So, for breakfast, she only has an egg and a cup of milk. For lunch, she has some vegetables and rice with her friends. For dinner, she likes fruit salad. She likes ice- cream and hamburgers, but she doesn't eat them. She thinks they can make her fat.

 What about Tony? He likes sports very much and he plays volleyball well. He always has a big breakfast: two eggs, some milk and salad. For lunch, he likes chicken, a hamburger and some rice. After school, he plays volleyball with his classmates. So he is hungry in the evening. He likes some vegetables, two hamburgers and some fruit for dinner.

Alice was very excited. One of her favourite writers had just published a new book. She had saved up her money, and she was ready to buy the book this weekend. She talked about the book with her online chat (聊天) group. A lot of the other kids in the group were going to buy the book, too. In fact, that was the main thing everyone in the chat room was talking about one afternoon.

 All of a sudden, Alice got a chat message from Ella, one of the kids in the chat room. The message said that Ella wanted to meet Alice at the bookstore. Then they could buy the new book together. Alice told her mum about the message, and her mum asked, "Do you know Ella from school? "

"No, "Alice answered. "We' ve only chatted online. I don't think she goes to my school. "

"Listen, "Alice's mum was anxious and said, "I want you to have friends, but sometimes, people online aren't who they say they are. And when you' re online, you can't always tell. So I don't think it's a good idea for you to meet this person. "

"But, Mum, "Alice said, "what if it is just a kid named Ella who wants to buy a book with me? "

 Alice's mum considered that for a moment. Then she said, "Let's do this. Dad and  I will go with you to the bookstore to buy the book with Ella. If Ella really is just a kid who wants to meet you in person, that's great. If not,      ▲      . "

 Alice didn't like that idea. It made her feel like a baby. But she knew her mum was right about safety, so she finally nodded. Then she answered Ella's message. She told Ella that she and her parents would be at the bookstore the next afternoon.

 The next day, Alice went to the bookstore with her mum and dad. When Ella never showed up and then disappeared from the chat room, Alice knew her parents were right. She was glad they were there to be with her.
