He is the man who for many people has been a role model. Now your biggest hero deserves a special day when you can express your thanks and let him know{#blank#}1{#/blank#} important he is to you. The third Sunday of June—which {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall) on June 19 this year is Father's Day. The idea of Father's Day came from {#blank#}3{#/blank#} American woman called Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909. Dodd wanted a special day {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (honor) her father. He raised six children by {#blank#}5{#/blank#} after his wife died. Dodd thought there needed to be a day to honor loving dads.

    The first Father's Day {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (celebrate) on June 19, 1910. In 1924, US President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (nation) Father's Day. Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Father's Day.

    Here are some ways to show your love and respect:

    Send him a greeting card. Fathers prefer cards {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are not too emotional. So choose one that will make him laugh. If he has a computer, cover his desktop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} words like “I love you Dad”. A small present, such as a framed photo of your family, can make him feel like a king.

    I had to visit my sister in another town because her husband {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) very ill. My children stayed back in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (they) father's care, except for the youngest. I was nervous taking a train journey alone with my one-year-old daughter. However, I gathered all my courage and boarded the train.

    It was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (surprise) that there were only three other passengers in that carriage, two old ladies and a young man. My daughter was crying, missing her dad. I tried to comfort her, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} her crying wouldn't stop.

    Just then the young man offered {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (take) my baby into his arms. He stood with her near the window and started talking to her in a soft voice. My daughter stopped crying {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (slow). I was both surprised and relieved. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} stranger handed my daughter back once she was asleep. During the long train journey this young man continuously helped me. He fed my baby, sang to her and told her countless {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (story). I was grateful for this man {#blank#}9{#/blank#} had come to my rescue.

    After so many years, I still remember this stranger on the train with a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (thank) heart.

Having tried too many times, Mary met her boss and politely asked him {#blank#}7{#/blank#}advice. It was the first time that she {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (talk) with his boss about her personal problems. It happened that the boss just had such a flat for rent, so they quickly reached {#blank#}9{#/blank#}agreement. But to her surprise, when she e-mailed Joan, telling her the good news, Joan said that she had changed {#blank#}10{#/blank#} mind— she was not returning to London.
