Mary will ever forget the first time she saw him. He suddenly appeared in class one day, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (wear) sun glasses. He walked in as if he had bought the school , And the word quickly got around that he was from New York City .  For some reason he sat beside Mary. Mary felt {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(please), because there were many empty seats in the room. But she quickly realized that it wasn't her, it was probably the fact that she sat in {#blank#}3{#/blank#}last row. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}he thought he could escape attention by sitting at the back, he was wrong. It might have made it a little {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(hard) for everybody because it meant they had to turn around, but that didn't stop the kids in the class. Of course whenever they turned to look at him, they had to look at Mary, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} made her feel like a star. Do you need those glasses for medical reasons?” the teacher asked .The new boy shook his head.” Then I'd appreciate {#blank#}7{#/blank#} if you didn't wear them in class. I like tolook at your eyes when I'm speaking to you.” The new boy looked at the teacher{#blank#}8{#/blank#}a few seconds and all the other students wondered {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the boy woulddo . Then he took {#blank#}10{#/blank#}off, gave a big smile and said, “That's cool.”

    A poor farmer had a friend,who was famous for the wonderful apple he grew.One day,his friend gave the farmer a young apple tree and told him{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(take) it home and plant it.

    The farmer was pleased with the gift,but when he got home he did not know where to plant it.He was afraid that {#blank#}2{#/blank#}he planted the tree in one of his fields,his neighbors would come at night and pick some of the apples.Finally he planted the tree in his wood{#blank#}3{#/blank#}no one could see it.But{#blank#}4{#/blank#}sunlight and good soil,the tree soon died.

    Later the friend asked the farmer why he had planted the tree in{#blank#}5{#/blank#}a poor place."What's the difference?"the farmer said{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(angry)."If I had planted the tree near the road,strangers{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(steal) the fruit."

    "Yes,"said the friend,"{#blank#}8{#/blank#}at least someone could have enjoyed the fruit.Now you not only have robbed everyone{#blank#}9{#/blank#}the fruit,but also you{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(destroy)a good apple tree!"

    During the teenage years, many young people can at times be difficult to talk to. They often seem {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (dislike) being questioned. They may be {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (willing) to talk about their work in school. This is a normal {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (develop) at this age, though it can be very hard for parents to understand. It is part of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (become) independent. They try to be adult while they are still growing up. Young people are usually more willing to talk if they believe that questions {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (ask) out of real interest and not because people are trying to check up on them.

    Parents should do their best to talk to their sons and daughters {#blank#}6{#/blank#} their schoolwork and future plan {#blank#}7{#/blank#} should not push them to talk if they don't want to. As they try to be adult, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (teenager) may experiment with drugs, alcohol or smoking, so parents should {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (careful) watch for any sign of unusual behavior {#blank#}10{#/blank#} may be connected with these and get help if necessary.
