Nineteen-year-old Zara Rutherford set the world record Thursday as {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (年轻的) woman to fly alone around the world. Rutherford has travelled in small planes with her pilot parents since she was six. At the age of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (十四), she gained her pilot's license. Then she started flying by {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (她自己).

She began her trip around the world on {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (八月) 18th. It covered 51,000 kilometers over 52 countries and five continents. On Thursday, Rutherford {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (降落，着陆) her small airplane back in western Belgium. The flight was supposed to take three months, but bad {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (天气) and visa delays kept her grounded and extended the trip by about two months. She met many {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (困难) on the way, but she dealt with them {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (成功).

On her website, Rutherford wrote, "Boys learn through toys, street names, history classes and movies that they can be scientists, astronauts, CEOs or presidents." She added, "Usually girls {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (鼓励) to be beautiful, kind, helpful and sweet. With my actions, I want to show women that they can be bold and brave {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (实现) their dreams."

Leonardo da Vinci (莱奥纳多·达·芬奇) was famous artist who was born in Italy. He was also a great inventor. Many of his inventions have become important in modern life. Although Leonardo hated war, he invented many different machines used for war. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced and used in war. Besides, Leonardo spent days thinking about how to save time. He developed ideas for something like cutting machines.

Leonardo was strange man. He never ate meat. That was very unusual in those times (时代). He never published (发表) scientific discoveries. He usually used mirror writing, which looks like usual writing in a mirror, starting from the right side of the page and moving to the left side.

Only a few of his paintings are left today. Many paintings were not finished because he thought they were not perfect.

Leonardo was talented and creative. He was regarded as one of the most intelligent men in the world.

The Longest Railway in the World

Have you ever heard of the longest railway in the world? It's called the Trans-Siberian Railway. This amazing railway is from Moscow in the west of Russia to Vladivostok in the east. It's over 9, 000 kilometers long, which is really, really far!

Imagine taking a trip on this railway. You would see so many different things! First, you would pass through forests. The trees would be tall and green, and you might even see some wild animals. Then, you would enter mountains. The peaks would be snowy and beautiful, and you would feel like you were on top of the world. As you continue your journey, you would come to rivers. The water would be clear and blue, and you might even see some fish swimming in it. 

But the Trans-Siberian Railway doesn't just take you through nature. It also takes you through different time zones(区域). Can you believe that you would cross eight time-zones on this trip? That means you would have to change your watch several times! Imagine waking up in the morning and finding out that it's already afternoon somewhere else on the train. That would be so cool!

One of the most amazing places on the Trans-Siberian Railway is Lake Baikal. It's the deepest and oldest lake in the world. The water is so clear that you can see fish swimming in it from the top. 

And the sights around Lake Baikal are so beautiful that it's like a painting. 

Traveling on the Trans-Siberian Railway is not just about seeing sights. It's also a great way to meet new people. You might sit next to someone from a different country, and you can talk to them and learn about the culture. You might even make some new friends!

So, if you ever get a chance to travel on it, don't miss it! It's an adventure that you will never forget. 

Abel Baxley is a seventh-grader at Bulls Middle School. He's not strong or {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(英俊的), but in his school almost {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (每个人) likes him. 

Abel has a good friend. Her name is Natalia. They are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (同班同学). Natalia is ill and can't walk well, so she {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (需要) to sit in the wheelchair and moves with the help of it. To make sure Natalia can move well, Abel {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (经常) sweeps the gravel off the road leading to the school playground. Abel and Natalia both like playing the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (吉他) and singing. Sometimes they sing their favorite songs {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (一起). They even perform for their friends. They think music is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (重要的) in our life. It can make people feel happy. 

Abel' s mother, April Catherman, is proud of what her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (儿子) does. "I'm so happy that he knows how to help others and I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (希望) more people can join him!" says she. 

 Do you know how to introduce yourself successfully in a new class? As a new student in a school, you will likely be asked to introduce yourself in a class as a speech. 

 Here are some tips to make sure you can let others know about you quickly:

 Start with a smile and be friendly. This will make your classmates more interested in what you say. 

· Tell others about your name, age, class, hometown, hobbies, and interests. Talking about your family is also a good idea. 

 Speak slowly and clearly, and make eye contact with your classmates. 

· Let others know what you are good at. This may help you make new friends quickly. 

· Practice beforehand. If you do so, you will feel more comfortable when you introduce yourself.

During the summer holiday, I ate too much fast food, so I was fat. I decided to make a change, so I became a 1 of a sports club. 

On the first day, I arrived at the club early and 2 with the coach, like running. My mum was surprised because I had never been 3 before and I didn't like sports. However, after three days, I didn't want to go there any more. 4 I was too tired to train. 

My mum was sad about it, but she told me a story. Twenty years ago, my mum was so 5 that she got ill easily. Then my grandfather took her to exercise. At first, she didn't want to do that after 6 a few days. But my grandfather always encouraged (鼓励) her and 7 different activities with her. Later, my mum enjoyed sports. Her body condition has been 8 now. After hearing this, I decided to go to the 9 again. My grandfather and my mother taught me the meaning of persistence(坚持). 

My mum was very happy with my change. 10 I knew that I needed to keep on to reach the goal(目标), just like"Where there is a will(意志), there is a way. "
