The life of Mao Dun.

    This year marks the 120th anniversary of Mao Dun's birth. He is one of he most famous novelists of modem China.

    Mao Dun was born in 1896. He began his career as a{#blank#}1{#/blank#} in 1916. In 1920, he translated The Constitution of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (《苏联共产党党章》 ) into Chinese. One year{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, in Shanghai, Mao Dun became the{#blank#}3{#/blank#} writer to join the Communist Party of China. He was China's first minister of culture and was elected chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association (中国作家协会)in 1978. On March 27, 1981, he{#blank#}4{#/blank#} of illness in Beijing .

    During the period from 1974{#blank#}5{#/blank#} his death, Mao Dun lived and worked in Beijing, and finished writing his reminiscences (回忆录) .
