    Even when you feel that there isn't a lot you can do {#blank#}9{#/blank#}unhappiness or problems, you can always do a little. A little at a time{#blank#}10{#/blank#}makes a big difference.

    Last week I went to an art show. A painting caught my eyes. To my amazement, it was painted by Steven, one of my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.Then many things about him came into my mind.

    Steven was from a poor family. His parents {#blank#}2{#/blank#} not afford to buy him some basic things that he needed. Once our school provided gloves for poor children. I put Steven's name on the list. He was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when he received a pair .He loved to wear them and they were always {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than anybody else's.

    Steven had a talent for painting and he could {#blank#}5{#/blank#} understand what I described in class .But he didn't have money to buy the paper for painting. So sometimes I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him some. He practiced hard and I often show his paintings to the class. He was greatly {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

    One day just before the summer vacation ,he came to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} some art books. When the new term began, he showed some of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} paintings to me. I felt shocked. They were good. Then we talked a lot. He said he would keep on.

    Later he was admitted to a famous art university. After graduation, he had many difficulties, but he never gave up. He was always {#blank#}10{#/blank#} his best to improve himself.

    My name is Anna King and I come from a small town called Madison in Wyoming in the center of the USA. When I was twenty, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}to the east coast (东海岸), to a town just south of New York, and started a(n){#blank#}2{#/blank#} in a big store. One day, a young man with short brown hair came to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in the store. He looked at {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and asked, "Are you Michelle Golden?"

    "No," I said. "But do you mean Michelle Golden from Madison?" He said yes. I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} him that I was at the same school with Michelle. She wasn't much older than me and people often said that we {#blank#}6{#/blank#}like each other. Then the young man told me that Michelle and he were in the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} history class at university (大学).

      Six months later, I got a better job with another big {#blank#}8{#/blank#}and moved to the west (西部的) coast to work in San Francisco. One day on my way home from work, a young man {#blank#}9{#/blank#} short brown hair saw me in the street and asked, "Are you Michelle Golden?"

    "No," I answered. "You asked me that when we {#blank#}10{#/blank#}in a store thousands of (数以千计的) kilometers away, near New York" Then both of us laughed.

    How's it going? I'd like to tell you about my travel experiences.

    Last month, I went to Chengdu {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my vacation with my parents. Chengdu is in Sichuan, in the southwest of China. It's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for its beautiful mountains, forests and lakes. Many people go there to enjoy their vacation every year. We had a five-day trip and took many {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. We saw pandas and monkeys. They were {#blank#}4{#/blank#}cute that we couldn't help watching them.
