 It was a small town with fantastic landscapes that attracted a lot of rich people to live in it. Ming was also attracted by the scenic spots of the town. But he had little money, so he rented a cheap house after he arrived. But what drew his attention most here was those wealthy people. So he took up a job to sell cellphones. But his cellphones were not "real"phones. 

One day,Ming' s pocket was empty again and wanted to earn money. Luckily, there was still a phone in his pocket to sell. Soon enough, he spotted target(目标)—a seemingly wealthy middle--aged man in an old jacket. Ming came up to him and smiled politely, saying, "Hey, friend..."But the man was very cautious and asked,"What's up? 

Ming said to him immediately, "Friend, I have a phone. I bought it at 5,000 yuan. But now I could sell it to you at only 3,000 yuan. The man seemed uninterested in his phone and wanted to go away. Ming stopped him and said, "What about 

2.000 yuan?" The man shouted at him,"What do you want to do with me?"

 Ming immediately put up a poor face and hugged the man's legs, crying to him, "Oh, my dear friend! Only 1,000 yuan, is it OK?" The man, after seeing this, felt a little bit affected and put his hands into his pocket. Then he took out 1,000 yuan to Ming and took the phone away.

 After earning 1,000 yuan, Ming went to a small restaurant to have lunch. After eating he handed over a note of 100 yuan to the cashier(收银员). The cashier stared at the banknote for quite a while, as if checking if it was a fake note(假币)and then said to Ming, "Sorry, I could not find the change for you for the moment. Please wait a minute."Then he went away. Staying in the restaurant without anything to do, Ming sat at a table and started to watch TV.

Most of us think the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}In fact, an Italian named Antonio Meucci was officially recognized (认定) as the inventor a few years ago. Who is Meucci and why wasn't he known for his invention at the time?

Antonio Meucci was born in Italy in 1808. He studied engineering and drawing. During his studies Meucci started to experiment with electricity. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} When two places were connected with wire, people in those places could hear each other talk.

In 1850, Meucci and his wife, Ester, moved to New York. Meucci was worried about his wife because she had become very ill. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} To solve this problem,he connected metal cables between his home and his workshop. This way, they could talk to each other conveniently.

Meucci invited a group of people to see his new invention. They listened in amazement as the voice of a singer was heard through the wires. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Even worse, Meucci never applied for a patent(专利) on his invention. Meanwhile，Alexander Graham Bell was working on the same idea and in 1876 the patent for the telephone was given to him. In 2002, more than a century after Meucci's death, his work was finally recognized by the government.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Sara got up early this morning. Today she and her family were going on a hike （远足）. It was Sara's first hike. 

They drove for two hours. Then Sara's mother stopped the car at the foot of the mountain. Sara, her parents and her brother began to walk. There were a lot of tall trees and flowers. Butterflies and bees（蜜蜂） flew around. Sara felt afraid of the bees at first, but soon she didn't because she found the bees were more interested in the flowers. 

After walking for an hour, Sara was tired. "Come on, Sara," said her brother. "You can do it! You're ten years old. That's old enough to hike. " Sara kept going and looking around. There was green grass everywhere. She saw a small rabbit in the grass. Sara shouted in surprise and the rabbit ran away quickly. 

Another hour passed. They got to the top of the mountain. Sara's mother began to take out their picnic （野餐）. There were hamburgers, eggs, beef and juice. "Congratulations, Sara!" said her father. "You have just finished your first hike!" Sara smiled. She thought she liked hiking. 

Jim has a nice farm. On the farm, he has many kinds of plants and animals. Look at the big trees. They are apple trees. Under the trees, there are some tomato plants and potato plants. The grass is green. You can see sheep, pigs, ducks, horses and chickens on the grass. Look at the black and white sheep. It is Jim's sister's. And the white horse is Jim's brother's. How many pigs can you see? Five? No, there is another pig behind the tree.
