Subject: The Riding for the Disabled Association
Hi Christine,
Sorry I haven't emailed lately —I've been very busy since becoming a volunteer for the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Every Saturday, I help to get the horses {#blank#}1{#/blank#} for the disabled(残疾) riders. Many more disabled people want to ride {#blank#}2{#/blank#} than you'd imagine. It's a disadvantage that I don't know how to ride —I'd love to got on long rides with the riders— but I'll learn soon {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . Right now, I'm just happy to be able to lead the horses around for the disabled riders.
I'm{#blank#}4{#/blank#} helping to organize a sale, which will be {#blank#}5{#/blank#} next month. It's a lot more work than helping the disabled. I need to collect second-hand things to sell at the sale. There are {#blank#}6{#/blank#} things available(获得的) than I thought, but I'm sure we'll have enough{#blank#}7{#/blank#} next month.
I hope the sale raises more money than last month's walk. It was rainy, so too few people took part in the event. Last week, we held an auction(拍卖). The auction took much less {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to organize than the walk. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} , for some reason, people offered too little money for the things, so we didn't raise enough money.
I'm {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you some pictures in the letter, as well as a speech I gave last week.

The birds had a hard time. They wanted a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}life but they couldn't.
Pelican said, "People killed my friends. That makes me {#blank#}2{#/blank#}
Robin said, "People cut down trees and made us lose our home. We must do something {#blank#}3{#/blank#} this."
"Yes! We should do something to protect {#blank#}4{#/blank#} We need a slingshot (弹弓)," said Parakeet.
"But how can we get a slingshot?" asked Robin.
"Squirrel would know {#blank#}5{#/blank#}“ said Parakeet.
So the birds flew {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Squirrel. He had a slingshot. He got it from one of the bird poachers (偷猎者). When the birds arrived, they saw Squirrel {#blank#}7{#/blank#} using the slingshot.
Squirrel was in the tree just above a poacher. "Zing!" Then the birds {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the poacher shout for help.
"Now you know what we feel like!" shouted the birds.

Free energy is everywhere around us. There are many ways to make and collect energy from{#blank#}1{#/blank#}sources(来源)like the sun, wind, water, etc. But people always make things difficult by not using these sources of energy. In the last few years there have been a great number of new ideas for generating(产生)energy. People suddenly realized that everyday things can be a source of energy. For example, riding a bike running or just{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, ate. But, is there anything else that can be used for collecting energy? We{#blank#}3{#/blank#}have to change our way of thinking if we want to change the world.
So comes the idea of solar(太阳能)roadways. Are they the road of future? Why don't we use them for collecting energy?
The US Department of Transportation{#blank#}4{#/blank#}$100. 000 to Solar Roadways to build the first ever Solar Road.
