One day, a baby snail(蜗牛)found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell at any time. He was confused(困惑的), so he went up to his mother and asked, "Why do I carry a hard and heavy shell? "His mother said, "Because we don't have bones to hold us up. We can only move slowly, so we need a shell to protect us. "

Then Bob came with a bag of flour（面粉）from his shop. "Your Majesty, this riddle is just a piece of cake."8 , Bob opened his bag of flour and poured out a line of flour right next to the king's line・ The line was 9 than the king's line.

Zhu Yanjun won the second place in the Chinese Poetry Competition for his excellent poetry skills.

Born in{#blank#}1{#/blank#} village in Jingning County, Gansu Province, Zhu only received primary and middle school education. His love for {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( read) poetry and books came from his Chinese teacher who has published many {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( article) in magazines."I also wanted to published stories, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}I started to read," he told China Daily.

Although Zhu left school so early, he didn't stop his poetic journey. He worked {#blank#}5{#/blank#} more than 10 cities. Whenever he got to a city, he visited the bookstores and libraries there. He took a notebook to write down paragraphs from books and recite(背诵){#blank#}6{#/blank#}( they).

Most of his favorite poems from the Tang Dynasty, and some of them{#blank#}7{#/blank#}( write) by Chairman Mao Zedong. Why? Because he found them easy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( remember). Over the years, he has read thousands of poems and he can recite more than 1,000 of them now.

Reading poetry {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( help) Zhu stay calm and he never complains about hard work." Whenever I face any difficulty, I think of a famous saying‘ Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it'," he told China Daily.

Zhu's children were {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( interest) in poetry too. They were accepted into universities in different cities.

When I was young, Mother's Day was as special as Christmas. 

It was exciting being in the house at this time. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} He made sure that his kids showed much love for their mother. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} He told us to do things for our mother, even very small things like cooking breakfast.

Many people think firefighters only fight fires, but we do a lot more! Every day is different in our job. Some days are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (danger) than others, but today something {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fun) happened. We answered a call from {#blank#}3{#/blank#} worried neighbour. When we {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (arrive), we found a little boy sitting at the top of a tree looking very unhappy. The neighbour was below the tree {#blank#}5{#/blank#} shouted up, "Don't worry, Jake! The firefighters are here!" We got out our ladder and I climbed {#blank#}6{#/blank#}to the boy. I asked him, "What are you doing up here?" He looked at me {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (sad) and said, "I came up {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (save) my kitten (小猫). It was stuck in the tree." "Oh," I said. "And {#blank#}9{#/blank#}is your kitten now?" The boy pointed to a little grey kitten sitting by the front door of the house. "Well," I smiled, "I think you could be a good firefighter one day, but you need to learn to climb big {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (tree)!" The little boy laughed and I carried him down to his mother.

Turning Garbage into New Earth

My father is a quiet and shy man. He has his own creative ideas, but he 1  keeps them to himself. Don't get me wrong. If you ask him for advice, he is always glad to 2  his ideas with you. He goes about his business without too much excitement. There is one thing that really gets him 3 . Just mention the word "rubbish" to him! He is especially interested in 4  the rubbish problem. "We've become a throwaway society. We buy something, and then we throw it away. We shouldn't5  doing this, " he said. 

Last year, my father decided to do something about the wasted 6  we were throwing away. A family 7  nearly 500 pounds of food waste each year. Don't 8 , though. There is something that we can do about it. Food waste is also known 9 "organic matter(有机物)". If it is properly 10 , it can be changed from rubbish to compost(混合肥料) which can be added to vegetable gardens to make the plants grow really well. 

"We are going to start composting our food waste, "11  decided one night at dinner. "I bought a compost bin today. From now on, we should put all our food waste in the compost bin 12  throwing it away. Nature will slowly 13  it into compost. In a few months, we will have rich compost to add to our 14  . "

 It took a while to get used to it, 15  soon, we all got into the habit of taking our food waste to the compost bin in the backyard. Three months later, we were excited to find the bin full of rich compost!
