Last night one of my Chinese friends took me to a concert of Chinese folk music. The piece {#blank#}1{#/blank#} was played on the erhu {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (especial) moved me. The music was strangely beautiful, but under the beauty I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (sense) a strong sadness and pain. The piece had a simple name, Erquan Yingyue (Moon Reflected on Second Spring), but it was one of the most moving pieces of music {#blank#}4{#/blank#} I've ever heard. The erhu sounded like someone crying, and I almost cried along with it as I listened. Later I looked up the history of Erquan Yingyue, and I began to understand the sadness in the music.

    The music was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (write) by Abing, a folk musician {#blank#}6{#/blank#} was born in the city of Wuxi in 1893. His mother died {#blank#}7{#/blank#} he was very young. Abing's father taught him to play many musical instruments, such as the drums, dizi and erhu, and by age 17, Abing was known {#blank#}8{#/blank#} his musical ability. However, after his father died, Abing's life grew {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (bad). He was very poor. Not only that, he developed a serious {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (ill) and became blind. For several years, he had no home. He lived on the streets and played music to make money.  Even after Abing got married and had no home again, he continued to sing and play on the streets. He performed in this way for many years.

    Mike is a 16-year-old student. He has a very healthy lifestyle,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, one year ago, he was not so healthy. From Monday to Friday, he {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(study) every day but hardly did any sports. He often used the Internet. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} his parents asked him to exercise, he never did, He sometimes helped his mother with some{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(housework), but only once a week.     Jane's grandparents have got a big farm. They live on the farm. Jane often goes to see her grandparents on weekends. On the farm there{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) many kinds of animals, like cows, dogs, chickens and ducks. Jane likes{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(play) with them because they can make her happy.

    There is{#blank#}3{#/blank#}little elephant on the farm. It is thin and small. It has no mother. It never plays{#blank#}4{#/blank#}other animals. It often walks around alone. Jane{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(love) it so much. She often gives the poor elephant some good food to eat. Soon they become good{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(friend).

    Every time, when the little elephant sees Jane, it runs up to her like a little dog. Sometimes it follows(跟随) Jane to the river. There Jane can{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(read) books on the ground and the little elephant can swim{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the river happily.

    Her grandfather often asks{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(she), "Why does the elephant like you so much?" "Oh, because I love it," Jane answers.

    "Yes, animals are our friends,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}we should be kind to them." Grandfather says with a smile.
