Summer Holidays(暑假) in England

    With July coming, the summer holidays begin. Boys and girls will have 60 days to rest. The weather is good. Parents will take their children to the seaside(海边) for the holidays. The children like the sand(沙子), the sun, the cool wind and the water. Certainly there are lots of things to see, good things to eat, and exciting things to do. They can play ball games. They can go on field trips, too. They study real things on the field trips. What good holidays!

    When Lucy was a little girl, she loved colourful pictures very much.

    Her mother often taught her to draw something on the paper. Then, when she was a little older, Lucy's mother gave her some pencils and a drawing book. She began drawing something by herself. When Lucy was 7 years old, her mother gave her a small board and some coloured pencils. She took Lucy to have art lessons in an art school. Lucy liked drawing very much and practised very often. She was good at drawing. When she was 13 years old, she won the gold medal in a big drawing competition（绘画比赛）for children.

Janet: Do you have a new schoolbag, Jiamin? 

Jiamin: Yes, I do. Look! Here it is.

Ben: Whose ruler is that? Is it your ruler, Mike? 

Mike: No, it isn't. It's Xiaoling's ruler. I don't have a ruler. May I use your ruler, Xiaoling? 

Xiaoling: OK. Here you are.

Janet: Jiamin, whose book is that? Is this your book? 

Jiatnin: No, it isn't. It's Ben's. Ben, here is your book.

Ben: Thank you. And that is a new pen. Is this your pen, Mike? 

Mike: Yes, it is. My pen is from my mother.

Xiaoling: It's very nice. Is the short pencil yours, Janet? 

Janet: Yes, it's my pencil. I want a new pencil.

Jiamin: Me, too.

The students are talking on the telephone.

    There is a frog (青蛙). He lives in a well (井) and he never goes out of the well. He thinks the sky is as big as the mouth of the well.

    One day a crow (马狗) comes to the well. He sees the frog and say, "Frog, let's have a talk." Then the frog asks, "Where are you from?" "I fly from the sky," the crow says. The frog feels surprised (惊讶) and says, "The sky is only as big as the mouth of the well. How do you fly from the sky?"

    The crow says, "The sky is very big. You always stay in the well, so you don't know the world is big."

    The frog says, "I don't believe(相信)." But the crow says, "You can come out and have a look by yourself." So the frog comes out from the well. He is very surprised. How big the world is!

My sister is Lily. She is nine years old. This is her room(房间).Look! Her book is on the desk. The ball is under the chair. Where is her bag? It's not on the bed, it's on the desk, too. She has got a new dress. It is on the bed. Lily likes her room.
