阅读下面短文,在空白处填入一个适当的词,或填入括号中所给单词的正确形式。

A big fire broke out in a clothing factory in our city last Wednesday. At 9:18 that morning, when the employees were working  (busy) in the 4-storeyed building, heavy smoke was seen (come) out of the windows on the second floor. The fire lasted nearly an hour, and the majority of the 345 employees managed (escape) from the fire. Unfortunately, 7were killed, and 23 injured, lightly or seriously.

Some workers (complain) that aids came too late, the firemen did come just 10 minutes after the fire was reported. To rescue everyone from the burning and smoking building in such a short time was too difficult. The only two exits of the big building were not enough for so many people to withdraw in  hurry.

The reason of the fire, according to an investigator, was someone broke the non-smoking rule in the factory, because some cigarette (end) were found. Next two weeks, 15 inspection teams will be working in all the factories  turn, aiming to clear away the possibility of more fires. (hope), no disasters like this will happen again.

举一反三

The Best Book I've Ever Read

Frankly, I have read nearly all of the great works of literature, but no book has ever impressed me as deeply or directly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Joel Stein's Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masendinity.

Haven't we all, on some level, been Jewish boys in New Jersey in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 1970s with only female friends, an Easy-Bake oven and a strong preference for show tunes? Haven't we all had a panic attack {#blank#}3{#/blank#} learning we're going to have a son, since that means we're going to have to figure out how to throw footballs, watch other people throw footballs and decide {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to be happy or sad about the results of football throwing? Haven't we all then tried to correct our lack of maleness by becoming a man, fighting fires with firefighters, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (drive) a Lamborghini and doing three days of Army training camp? I know I have.

The only parts I didn't fully enjoy were {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in which the author suffered horribly. After just three hours of training camp, he fainted weakly into the arms of a soldier. The film rights to Man Made have already been sold to Fox, and I hope it gets {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (turn) into a movie with George Clooney playing the Stein role, since they remind me so much of each other.

{#blank#}8{#/blank#} this is only Stein's first book, I would already consider him as someone like David Sedaris, Dave Barry, James Thurber, Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln. I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (recommend) Man Made not just to all my friends and family but also to strangers on Twitter over and over again. My one fear is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} after this great achievement, Stein will lose his ability to be a cruel critic of our shallow times.

Pooja Rai was a young architecture student in 2014 when she went with a friend to give food to a local orphanage. She was surprised at what she saw.

Kids were playing with anything they could get their hands on. One group was rolling around a broken metal pipe. Two boys were trying to play badminton, using old shoes as rackets. "Play shouldn't just be part of a rich kid's lifestyle. All kids have a right to enjoy their childhoods." Rai says.

Over the next few weeks, she talked with friends about collecting money for a playground. And that's when she thought of old tires. Around 100 million tires are thrown away in India every year. Could they reuse them as playground materials and help the environment, too?

That idea became a reality in 2015, using old tires—all cleaned, carefully looked over to make sure they are safe to use, and painted in bright colors. The following year, she created Anthill Creations, which has built 275 playgrounds across India —celebrating the power of play in public spaces. orphanages, and schools.

"Our work always begins with talks with kids about what they want from this space." says Rai. Sometimes it can take a few hours, or a few visits, until children are ready to open up. She also draws on her experience as an architect. "I found that spaces are powerful in shaping people's behavior." she says.

Most of the play spaces Rai designs feature large tire sculptures of cars, buildings, or animals, paired with more classic elements of swings and jungle gyms.

In one girl's school in Bengaluru, the children wanted their play space to be shaped into a boxing ring, with tires doubling up as punching bags. "Their teacher was unsure about it." Rai remembers. "But the girls said they didn't want people to see them as weak. They wanted to practice self-defense and grow stronger." In December 2019, this playground became a reality.
