As a saying goes, "Painting is silent poetry and poetry is painting that speaks." Now a TV program named China in Poetry and Paintingthat explores the connection between ancient poems and paintings in Chinese history is airing on CCTV. It has caught wide attention across the country.

In each weekly episode (集), five ancient paintings and several poems on related themes are explored. With each painting, there is a performance telling the story behind its creation, including the painter's brush skills and spiritual world. The performances include singing, dancing, stage plays, instrumental performances and martial arts. Technologies such as 3D are also used to help viewers better understand the classic works.

Among the performers are singers Liao Changyong,Ayanga and Tan Weiwei, singer-songwriter Xu Song, and actors Cao Lei and Fan Siu-wong. They draw on their talents to present classic works in their own ways. After each performance, the program's host Sa Beining and some experts sit with the performers at a round table, together discussing and enjoying the classics. "We want to find ways that can make ancient poems and paintings come alive," says Tian Mei, chief director of the program. To prepare for the program, the production team worked closely with some experts, choosing nearly 60 classic paintings. About half of them are from the collection of the Palace Museum.

Today, more and more Chinese young people are interested in traditional Chinese culture. Since the program came out, it has drawn millions of young viewers. If you are a fan of ancient Chinese poems and paintings and want

to better understand the spirit of Chinese people, don't miss the program.

Do you often play with your cellphone before bedtime? According to a study, 72% of the students use their cellphones in their sleep environment. Scientists have found a "strong connection" between the use of cellphones at bedtime and poor sleep.

The first reason is that using cellphones can make your brain too excited. Besides, the light from a cellphone influences how the body normally works and then leads to poor sleep. Without enough sleep, you may find it difficult to pay attention to what teachers say the next day. Also, you'll easily get absent-minded and sleepy during the daytime. As a result, it seems more and more difficult for you to learn so many subjects.

Doctors say getting good and enough sleep is very important for learning difficult subjects like math and foreign languages. They advise students to stop looking at cellphones at least half an hour before bedtime, because it helps their brains slow down and gets their bodies ready for sleep.

If you want to pick up a cellphone at bedtime, try the following activities:

*Keep a diary: Thoughts and worries can make you anxious at night. Writing thoughts on paper can clear your mind.

*Try a mind exercise: Close your eyes and count backwards from 100 to 1.

*Take a deep breath: Breathe in and out slowly and deeply. Just relax.
