A person who writesmusic is called a composer. Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the greatest composers.
He was born onDecember 16th, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He was a clever child who became a great composerand musician. His father died when he was only eighteen years old. From thattime on he had to provide for (供养) himselfand his two younger brothers. He played the viola (中提琴)in an orchestra. In 1792, Haydn, a famous composer at the time, saw Beethoven'sperformance (表演) and realised that he was a verytalented (有才能的) musician. He asked him to come toVienna with him and study' under him.
Beethoven did, andbecame a great composer. His music was filled with his own emotions (感情) which created (创造) a new style of music atthe time. Later on, Beethoven became deaf and had to compose his music entirelyin his head without even hearing a note of it himself. He died on March 26th, 1827.
