    Many years ago, life was very different. There weren't any buses. We walked to work. We lived in a small house. We didn't have any televisions or telephones. We didn't have enough food. We didn't have new clothes. Now there are lots of buses and cars. We go to work by car. We have big new televisions. We watch TV every day. Everyone has a telephone. We wear new clothes. We are very happy now.

    Elephants are mammals. They can be four metres tall. They don't eat meat. They only eat fruit, leaves and grass. They need a lot of food, so they spend most of their time eating. They only sleep for about four hours every night.

    The elephant has two long, white teeth called tusks. It is the only animal with a trunk-a special long nose. The elephant can use its trunk to pick up big tree or a small peanut. The elephant is also the mammal with the biggest ears. They look like two big fans.

    Elephants live in Africa and Asia. They live together in family groups. They are very strong, very smart and of course, very, very big.

    I have many friends in my class. They're lovely and interesting. I would like to introduce some of them. Ben is the most talkative boy in our class. Linda is a quiet student. She is good at every subject but she never shows off. Alice is very cute. She's also kind to everyone and she's very friendly. She's always ready to help everyone. Allen is a very tall boy. He is a nice boy and his math is very good. He likes to play football and basketball. He plays basketball very well and he is on our school team. He often says, "Playing basketball is good for our health." I enjoy playing with him because I can learn a lot from him.
