How to be a good student

    As teenagers, how to be a good student? In my opinion, there are a lot of things we should do.

    Firstly, live a healthy life. We should have healthy eating habits.  Do more exercise to keep healthy. Secondly, have a good study habit. We should listen to the teacher carefully; try our best to finish homework on time. Thirdly, try to be an honest student. Don't tell lies and never cheat in class. Finally, obey the school rules. Don't go swimming alone without permission. Never take the mobile phones to school. Don't fight with others. Last but not least, we should be polite to the teachers and classmates.

    I hope we all become good students.

Should mobile phones be allowed at school?

    People have different ideas about whether students should use mobile phones at school or not, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If their parents have something important to tell then, they can call their teachers for help. If someone's mobile phone rings during a Chinese class, he and his classmates can't concentrate on what the teacher is saying. Some parents also point out that their children often use their mobile phones to download(下载） unhealthy information from the Internet. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Other people believe that we can find some ways to use mobile phones to help students learn better in the classroom, since many of today's mobile phones are like mini computers. And children usually know more than adults about how to use new technology. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    World Environment Day is on June 5th every year in the world. It makes people realize the problems of our earth. From June 5th to 16th of 1972, the UN had a meeting in the capital(首都) of Sweden(瑞典)—Stockholm. This was the first meeting to study how to protect the environment. We have only one earth, so everyone should do something to protect our earth. We should try to do the 3Rs every day—reduce(减少), reuse and recycle(循环). We should buy things without lots of packaging(包装). Use many things in our neighborhood—They don't have to travel very far and so they can reduce pollution. Recycle all the things you use. Carry reusable bag for shopping.

At home, we should try to save water and electricity every day. When we go out, we'd better walk, ride bikes or take a bus. Try to plant more trees and use less paper to protect the forests on the earth. And we should see every day as World Environment Day and try to do anything to help our environment.

    The Silk Road is known all over the world.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}It went along the north of China, India, and Persia and ended up in Eastern Europe near today's Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea.

    It was called the Silk Road because one of the major products traded was silk cloth from China. Chinese silk was soft and of high quality. So people throughout Asia and Europe loved it very much.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Even the Romans called China the "land of silk".

    Besides silk, the Chinese also sold tea, salt, sugar, porcelain(瓷器)and spices(香料). Most of the goods were expensive. This was because it was a long trip and trades didn't have a lot of room for goods. They bought goods like cotton, ivory, wool, gold and silver.

    Traders traveled in large caravans (商队). They would have many guards with them.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Most of the road was through dry land, so camels were popular animals for transport.

    Although there was some trade between China and the rest of the world for some time, the silk trade developed quickly during the Han Dynasty which ruled from 206 B. C. to 220 A.D.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}During this time, Chinese traders traveled safely. Also, traders had a higher social position.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}It not only helped develop trade between different countries, but also helped make ideas, cultures and inventions spread across the world.

    Nick and his friends were talking about things that can bring them luck.

    "I have a lucky red pen," said Andy. "Every time I take a test, I carry my lucky red pen."

    "I have a lucky coin," said Peter. "Every time I take a test, I carry my lucky coin."

    Nick thought for a moment, and said, "My blue socks."

    "Blue socks?" the boys were surprised and asked together.

    Nick said that every time he wore his blue socks to school before a test, he got a good mark.

    The next day Nick had a Chinese test. He was sad because he couldn't find his blue socks.

    "Mom!" shouted Nick. "Where my blue socks? I have a Chinese test today, and I need to wear them."

    "Don't be silly," Nick's mom said. "They need to be washed." "When I wear them, I get a good grade," Nick said.

    "Did you prepare for your test?" asked Mom.

    "Yes."

    Mom encouraged him,"①那就不用担心了。尽你的最大努力吧。"

    A few days later, Nick's teacher told him that he got 95 in his test. ②Nick was so excited that he couldn't wait to tell Mom that he did well in his test.

    Mom said, "It wasn't the blue socks that made you success. In fact, it was made by yourself."

    In America, the school day usually starts at 9 a.m. and finishes at about 4 p.m. The school subjects are different from1. In China, we always2Chinese, math, English, P.E. and so on. But in America, students have more3, such as cooking and driving lessons. Their school life isn't just4study. They also have more things to do than（比）Chinese students. There are many clubs（俱乐部） in American schools, 5. If the students are interested in sports, they6join different sports clubs. American students also have art clubs, language clubs and some7clubs. From 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., they do8things in these clubs.

    Maybe you think English is very popular in the world, so American students don't need to 9any other language.10that's not true. American children from the age of seven have to learn a foreign language. For example, they learn French or Chinese.
