Dave is my good friend. He1in a small village. His home is far2his school and the roads are not good, So it is3for him to get to school. He4at about six o'clock every day and has breakfast quickly. Then he leaves for school at about six twenty. First, he5his bike to the bus station. It takes about forty minutes. Then he takes the No. 12 bus. It usually takes6about fifty minutes. Sometimes he has no time for breakfast at home,7he has some food on the bus.

    "I dream of taking8, It must be9." says Dave. He hopes (希望) he can go to college(上大学) in a big city some day,10? Because then he can take a train to the big city!

    Some years ago, Danny gave up his job as a doctor to become a freelance(特约的) model maker, but now he has money trouble. He says that he wishes he'd never 1 to set up his own business.

    "I am now in such a bad situation," says Danny. "I hope I'm 2 working as a doctor. You see, I was 3 with my job, and I didn't have any fun. I said to a few friends that I wanted to go into 4 and they said that they could give me work, so I left the hospital.

I went to Grand Canyon (大峡谷) National Park in July 2012 for the first time and I knew I wanted to work there as a park ranger（管理员）. Park rangers protect the park's animals, plants, land, buildings, and people.

Now, as a park ranger for Grand Canyon National Park, I share the science, history and beauty of this park with thousands of visitors from around the world.

National parks are like outdoor museums. Park rangers have all kinds of jobs, depending on where they work and what they studied during college. I teach school field trips（实地考察）, work at visitor centers and help people stay safe during their visit.

My favorite part of my job is showing children their first look at the Grand Canyon during school field trips. Children are often amazed at the canyon's size and colors. Sometimes, they think it looks like a painting.

Being a park ranger requires a lot of energy. I walk several miles and talk with hundreds of people each day. Park rangers must enjoy working with people and speaking in front of groups. Nearly 5 million people visit Grand Canyon National Park every year.

Park rangers must also be prepared for any situation. Recently, I broke a traffic jam(堵塞). It was caused by a huge elk（麋鹿）standing in the road. Elks can become dangerous when they get scared, so I asked visitors to stop their cars and take pictures from far away. Believe it or not, I also help protect people from monkeys. It is not allowed to feed animals in national parks. But sometimes, visitors try to feed monkeys.

Mr. Smith is 100 years old, but he is very healthy. He can read, play chess with people, and take care of himself(他自己). Many people want to know his secrets (秘密) about keeping healthy and living a long life. Here is what Mr. Smith says:

"My secrets are simple. You can learn them easily. First, you should go to bed early and get up early every day. This is a good habit. For me, I usually go to bed at 9:00 at night and get up at 6:00 in the morning."

"Second, do more (更多的) exercise. I always go out for a walk before having breakfast. In the morning and afternoon, I do some simple exercise, too.

"Third, make more friends. I have many friends. Some of them are old. Some of them are not. It makes me happy to be with them. That is also important to live a long life."

Anna's coat is too small. She goes shopping with her mother on Sunday. They go into a clothing shop first (首先). She wants to buy a new coat. Anna finds a green coat in the clothing shop. She likes it very much. She tries it on, but it's too small for her. She wants a big one, but the big one is not green. She isn't happy. Then she wants to go to another (另外的) shop to have a look. Then they find a new shop. The shop is big. There they see many kinds of coats in different colors and sizes (尺码). Anna tries on a green one. It looks nice on her. Anna is very happy. She takes it for fifty yuan.

Harris was a very small hare(野兔) with very big feet. "Why do I have such big feet, Grandpa?" Harris asked. "All hares have big feet, Harris. I will show you 1 ," said Grandpa.

Grandpa hopped(单脚跳) 2 into the air. Harris copied(模仿) it. He kept practicing over and over again until he could hop as high 3 Grandpa. Then Grandpa took Harris up to the 4 of the mountains. He told Harris, "With your big feet, you can hop to the top of your world."

Grandpa taught Harris lots of life 5 . For example, he taught Harris how to 6 a cool resting place in the earth when the days were hot. One summer afternoon, they stopped to 7 the grass. Harris shouted happily, "Look, Grandpa! My feet can 8 me away from the hot sun! I'm so 9 to have such big feet." As time went by, he got to know the10 of his feet.
