Drinking coffee could activate the body's fat-fighting defenses, which is a (discover) that could have a potential effect in the battle against obesity and diabetes. In a study, researchers said that coffee may help stimulate our brown fat reserves, plays a key role in how quickly we can burn calories.

There are two forms of fat cells, brown cells and white cells, and each (play) a different role in our body. While brown cells help generate heat, white cells take responsibility the storage of fat or energy.

"Brown fat works (different) from other fat in your body and produces heat by (burn) sugar and fat, often in response to cold," said Professor Michael Symonds. "Increasing (it) activity improves blood sugar control, and the extra calories burnt help with weight loss. However, until now, no one has found an (accept) way to stimulate its activity in humans.

"We are now trying to find out there's another component helping with the activation of brown fat, besides caffeine." Symonds said, "Once we have confirmed which component is responsible for this, it could potentially be used as part of a weight-management method or regulation program (help) prevent diabetes."

The word Nushu literally means "women's writing" in Chinese: As the name suggests, Nushu is created and specially used by women.

Often {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(call) "the world's only surviving characters for women", these slim words were developed from standard written Chinese. In the old days, Nushu {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(teach)by elderly women to girls at home because female children weren't allowed {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(attend)formal school. During gatherings in villages, women used the characters to write poems or song lyrics to express their emotions {#blank#}4{#/blank#} were hidden from men. The words were full {#blank#}5{#/blank#} encouragement and positive energy, and showed an uncommon open-mindedness among women at that time.

Ji Xianlin once said that Nushu is a feminist(女权主义者)symbol. "It's {#blank#}6{#/blank#} unique writing system created by {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(talent)women who were deprived(剥夺)of the right to education," he wrote in an article. "It has significance in various {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(field)and represents Chinese people's strong spirit."

Nushu was made as a national cultural heritage in 2006. However, it is not {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(wide)used in daily life today. In fact, it is a dying language. Now linguists are taking action to prevent this incredible cultural heritage from {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(disappear).

Recently, an Internet slang word Foxi- or "Buddhist"- is becoming increasingly popular as it encourages people, especially {#blank#}1{#/blank#} young to remain calm and peaceful and avoid conflicts as much as possible- in other words, to live like a Buddha.

The phrase {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (create) for the first time in 2014 in Japan to describe young men who no longer bother to start relationships with women or follow someone else's life path. They prefer to stay in their own peaceful world without {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (disturb) and care little about passion and success.

In this fast-changing and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (compete) world, many people are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} heavy pressure. It's only natural that people are seeking for a spiritual bay. However, some would compare "foxi" with "demotivational (无动力的) culture"- a phrase {#blank#}6{#/blank#}describes young people who feel aimless and powerless. They say that foxi actually reflects the reality {#blank#}7{#/blank#} young people are losing their will to fight. They are pretending {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (keep) a healthy and wise attitude towards failure simply because they are incapable(无能力的) of succeeding.

All in all, there is one thing that "Buddhist Youngsters" should {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (basic) keep in mind: You may want to keep a calm mindset, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you should never stop fighting for yourselves!

Chinese researchers have planned to build an airport in Antarctica in November. The Chinese {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) not very used to flying to the southernmost continent, because the country s first polar plane, the Snow Eagle 601, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (put) into use only three years ago.

Before the Snow Eagle 601, Chinese researchers traveled to the ice-covered land by ship, which took significantly {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (long) than flying. There are currently more than 20 airports in Antarctica, but none of them belong to China. The Snow Eagle 601 has to rely on Russian airports {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (take) off and land. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the Chinese researchers decided to build their own. Building an airport in Antarctica is very different from building one elsewhere. The continent is covered by a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (constant) moving layer of ice, so the builders must find somewhere that moves at the slowest possible pace and in a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (fix) direction.

The builders managed to find a spot back in early 2017 following {#blank#}8{#/blank#} tough measuring process that took place in the storm-like polar winds. The next problem is the snow. The soft nature of snow makes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a bad material for a runway. So the builders must use road roller-like {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (machine) to press the snow, which can be very time-consuming in extreme coldness.
