The polar bear is a vein big white bear. We call it the polar bear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it lives in the Arctic Circle near the North Pole.

    The polar bear lives in snow and ice. At the North Pole there {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) only snow, ice and water. There is not ally land. The polar bear has a very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (warmly) coat because the weather is cold in the Arctic Circle.

    You can't find the polar bear easily in the snow because {#blank#}4{#/blank#} coat is white.

    A grown-up polar bear is usually about three meters long and weighs 450 kilos. It can stand up on its back legs because it has very wide {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (foot). It can use its front legs like arms. The polar bear can swim very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (good). It catches fish and sea animals for food. It goes into the sea when it is afraid. People like to kill the polar bear {#blank#}7{#/blank#} its beautiful white coat. The government of Canada and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} United States call on that people should stop {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (kill) polar bears. They don't want these beautiful animals to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (death) out.

    There are many places of interest in Hangzhou. Last month, when my uncle Ted invited my family to go there, I was really excited.

    We got there {#blank#}1{#/blank#} plane. We spent three hours in total on the way. When we landed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (safe), it was 11:00 at night. We found a nice hotel to live in. And we chose a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} /'stændəd/ room with two single beds. It was very clean. And the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (condition) there were very good.

    The next morning we had a big breakfast. Then we couldn't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} /weit/ to visit the West Lake. The scenery(风景) there was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} beautiful that we all lost ourselves in it. We rode bikes there and had a wonderful time.

     On the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (two) day we visited the Yue Temple(岳庙). It's famous for our national hero, Yue Fei. We couldn't find a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} / 'prɔpə/ place to take photos because there were too many people. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we were a little tired, we still felt very happy.

    I'm looking forward to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (visit) it again. If you go there, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself, too.

    At the end of the term, our ethics(伦理学) professor gave us a test. He had told us {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (expect) one and had warned us it would be included in the final grade.

    The test began. Sure enough, I was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} confident that I finished all the questions after forty{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (minute) except the very last one: What is the name of the woman who cleans the lecture hall?

    I thought it was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} joke. I'd seen the woman many times. She'd been working in the building for at least a year. She is short {#blank#}5{#/blank#} dark hair, in her fifties, and we'd even smiled at each other once or twice. But I didn't know {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (she) name because I'd never thought of asking her. I handed in my test paper and the last question {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (leave) unanswered-hoping the final result wouldn't be influenced too {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (bad) because of it. But then one student put up his hand. He hadn't finished the test, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} "I'm just wondering," he said, "will it really change my grade if I don't complete the last question?" "Certainly," our professor {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (smile).

    I've never forgotten that lesson, I also learned that the cleaner's name was Sherry.
