One day, Nick invited his friends to supper.He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen.     His son looked surprised. “I can understand why I shouldn't pay too much.Father,but if I can pay less, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} not save a bit of money?”

    “That would be a very{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (reason) thing to do in a big city,but it could destroy a small village like ours,”Nick said.

    Nick's guests, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} had heard their conversation, asked why they should not buy salt more cheaply if they could. Nick replied,"The only reason a man would sell salt{#blank#}6{#/blank#} a lower price would be that he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage of that situation would be showing a lack of respect{#blank#}7{#/blank#} me sweat and struggle of the man who worked very hard to produce it."

    "But such a small thing couldn't{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (possible) destroy a village."

    “In the beginning, there was only{#blank#}9{#/blank#} very small amount of unfairness in the world,but everyone added a little, always{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (think) that it was only small and not very important,and look where we have ended up today.”

Just Love

    My story is about receiving unconditional love from my students.

    With so much going against immigrants, I want to share this story that blessed an immigrant like me.

    I teach nursing here in the US. I am from China, and I just {#blank#}1{#/blank#} start) working in a community college in California in July 2016. At the beginning, I was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (worry) that I couldn't make myself {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (understand) by my students as my accent was different. I thought I would never be accepted. My thoughts were {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (complete)wrong! Each day they encouraged me {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (get) better. They never discourage me.

    As weeks passed, my students came up with an idea to encourage this foreign teacher of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they). They gave me a prize for getting better with my {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (pronounce). I was given a packet of Skittles(彩虹糖), {#blank#}8{#/blank#} truly moved my heart. I am so thankful to my students. It's not that I teach them nursing, but that they teach me life. I am glad to be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} teacher to these hard-working students who try hard to be wonderful future nurses.

    I just want to encourage anyone feeling depressed. Never give {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. There is always hope.

    Easter Island, or Rapu Nui as it is known {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (local), is home­ to several hundred ancient human statues. Yet when Dutch adventurers landed in 1722, they met a Stone Age culture. The identity of the statues builders was in doubt until well into {#blank#}6{#/blank#}twentieth century. Bestselling Swiss author Erich Daniken believed they were built by aliens.Local folklore（民俗） believ Modern science has proved that the statues builders were Polynesians, but not proved {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they moved their creations. that the statues walked there {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they), while researchers have tended to assume the ancestors dragged the statues there, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(use) ropes and logs.

    Rivers are one of our most important natural resources. Many of the world's great cities are located on rivers and almost every country has at least one river {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (flow) through it, which plays an important part in the lives of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (it) people.

    Since the beginning of history, people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (use) rivers for transportation. The Yellow River and Changliang River play a large role in China. The Mississippi, the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (long) one in the United States ever influenced the American people {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (great) in history. The lifeline of Egypt is the Nile. Rivers provide fresh water {#blank#}6{#/blank#} drink, grow crops, make electricity and chances to have fun for those {#blank#}7{#/blank#} live along their banks.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the cities grow in size and industries increase in number, the river water is severely being polluted. It urges all countries to make {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (decide) and take immediate action to stop it from {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (pollute) any more.

    Contrary to {#blank#}1{#/blank#}some people might assume, evidence {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(show) that sharks seldom attack humans. There are three types of shark attacks. In the main type, the shark attacks you because it mistakes you {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a fish, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}when it tastes human flesh it decides  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (give) up and swims away. In the second type, the shark {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(push) you with{#blank#}7{#/blank#}nose to find out if you are fit to be eaten, and then bites you{#blank#}8{#/blank#}it thinks you are. In the third type, the shark waits for you to swim by, and then attacks you all of{#blank#}9{#/blank#}sudden. The last two types of attack more often result in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(die) of humans.
