There are six friends in the Green Woods. They are happy. The bird is a singer. She sings songs in the tree. The dog is an artist. He draws pictures on the ground. Look at the monkey. He is so funny. He makes the animals happy. What does he do? He's an actor. The street is so clean. Who is the cleaner? The bear is sweeping the fallen leaves. The parrot(鹦鹉) is a reporter. She reports news every day. What does the black cat do? Look! He is patrolling(巡逻) with his handgun(手枪) by his motor cycle. He's a policeman.

    Helen was seven years old, and one day one of her teeth began hurting. She cried in her class at school. Her teacher said kindly, “What's the matter, Helen?” “One of my teeth hurts,” answered Helen.“Tell your mother about it," said the teacher,“and then go and see the dentist.”

    That afternoon Helen told her mother about her teeth, and her mother took her to the dentist later. The dentist examined the tooth and then he said to Helen,“It' s very bad. I'm going to pull it out, and then you are going to get a new tooth. It will be as nice as the others next year.” He pulled the tooth out.

    The next day Helen's teacher asked her about the tooth. She said to her,“Does it still hurt, Helen?”“I don't know. You'd better(最好) ask the dentist.” Helen answered.“Why?”the teacher said.“Because the dentist has got it," Helen answered.

    Mike eats breakfast five times a week . He doesn't eat breakfast on Saturday and Sunday . He washes the dishes twice a week . He washes them on Saturday and Sunday . He waters the plants four times a week . He doesn't water them on Monday , Wednesday and Friday . He always sets the table . He sets the table from Sunday to Saturday . He washes his dog once a week . He washes it only on Saturday . He goes swimming twelve times a month . He swims on Monday , Wednesday and Friday . But he never cleans his room .

    It's Jimmy's birthday and he is 9 years old. He gets a lot of presents from his family and one of them is a big drum (鼓). His grandfather buys it for him.

    Jimmy likes it very much. He plays with it every day and he often makes a terrible noise (令人讨厌的声音). His father works in the day and Jimmy is in bed when he gets home in the evening. So his father doesn't hear the noise.

    But Mrs Black doesn't like the noise, so one morning she takes a knife and goes to Jimmy's room when he hits his drum. She says to him, “Hello! Jimmy. Do you know there is something very nice in your drum? Here is a knife. Please open the drum and let's find it.”

    There is a frog(青蛙). He lives in a well(井) and he never(从未) goes out of the well. He thinks the sky is as big as the mouth of the well. One day a crow (乌鸦)comes to the well. He sees the frog and say, “Frog, let's have a talk.” Then the frog asks, “Where are you from?” “I fly from the sky,” the crow says. The frog feels surprised (惊讶)and says, “The sky is only as big as the mouth of the well. How do you fly from the sky?” The crow says, “The sky is very big. You always stay in the well, so you don't know the world is big.” The frog says, “I don't believe (相信).”But he crow says,“ You can come out and have a look by yourself.” So the frog comes out from the well. He is very surprised. How big the world is!

Mike and Helen are on the phone.

Mike: Hello, this is Mike. Who's that?

Helen: Hello, Mike. This is Helen. Tomorrow is Saturday. What are you going to do?

Mike: I don't know. How about you?

Helen: Let's go to Chinatown together.

Mike: That sounds like a great idea, but there are often a lot of people there on Saturdays.

Helen: That's right. But there's Chinese dancing tomorrow.

Mike: Wow, that's great! Is there anything else?

Helen: Yes, there is a food festival. Chinese food is delicious.

Mike: Okay. Let's go to Chinatown tomorrow.

Helen: Great! See you tomorrow.
