Four Seasons

    Spring is the best season of the year. It lasts from March to May. The days get longer. The nights get shorter, and the weather gets warmer. Everything begins to grow. Grass and trees begin to turn green. Flowers begin to come out. Children begin to flykites outdoors.

    Summer comes after spring.  It is the hottest season in theyear. It lasts from June to August. People try to find a cool place then. They always go swimming in pools, lakes, and rivers.

    Autumn is the harvest season. It gets cool. Farmers begin to reap (收割).They are busy from September to November.

    The coldest season ofthe year is winter. It's from December to February. The days are short and thenights are long. It snows sometimes and that makes the children happy. They make a snowman and dance around it. They go ice-skating as well.

    Look at all the kinds of drinks on the table．There are milk tea, water, fruit juice，milk and fizzy drinks(碳酸饮料)．What should we drink? Coke，a kind of fizzy drink，tastes great，but it is really bad for your teeth and bones．It has a lot of sugar．Some drinks are good for us．Some are not．The doctors tell us to drink water and milk．Our body has lots of jobs and it needs water to do many of them．Milk is good for your eyes and bones．

    Last Sunday , my sister and I went to the book store . We bought many interesting books . We wanted to buy a picture book for Tom . My sister found a picture book about the Monkey King . But I didn't like it , because I thought the science book was more interesting than the picture book . At last , we bought the science book .

    This is a Chinese girl. Her name is Wu Fang. She is a new student (学生). But now, we're friends. She has two big eyes. She likes swimming, reading and taking photos, but she doesn't like singing or dancing. Now, we are in the park. There is a lake (湖) in the park. She wants to swim in the lake. But near the lake there is a sign (标志). It says,

    "Don't swim in the lake." So she has to read books under the tree.

Hans Christian Andersen

    Hans Christian Andersen was a great writer.  He wrote many famous fairy tales for children all over the world.

    Andersen was born in 1805. When he was a little boy, his father read him a story every day. His father died when he was 11. He had to leave school and started working. He loved reading books very much, so he went back to school at 17. His first book came out in 1835. From then on, he wrote about one book a year for 37 years. Some of his famous fairy tales are The Emperor's New, Clothes and The Ugly Duckling. He died in 1875.

    Many children enjoy reading because of him.
