When I was a little boy, the dinner on the eve of the Spring Festival was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}I looked forward to most. It was not only for the delicious food that we seldom got to eat, but also an opportunity to have the family gathered together. I would run {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (happy) with my sister in the house, while my mom was preparing food in the kitchen. She would put some tokens in some dumplings; candies for a sweet life, and peanuts for a long and healthy {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. In the evening, we would sit around the table, toasted each other and enjoyed the homemade dishes, which tasted much better than anything {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (cook) in the restaurant.

However, for the last three years, we {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (eat) out for the Spring Festival family dinner, and we have enjoyed it no less than eating at home.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I don't understand why some people refuse this change. Can't they admit that the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (prepare) for a dinner is hard work? It is not worth the effort of spending so much time cooking a single meal. We work all year, so why can't one day be about spending time with family and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (relax). Eating out is a good choice and it has nothing to do {#blank#}9{#/blank#} loss of traditions. We still have the dinner with the same people, just in a different place. The occasion is more {#blank#}10{#/blank#}_(enjoy) without that tiring cooking.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Those are the words of Thomas Alva Edison, one of the greatest {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (inventor) in the history of the United States.

Edison, who grew up in the Midwest, was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (large) self-educated. He earned 1,093 patents in his lifetime, including the lightbulb. Being {#blank#}3{#/blank#} successful businessman, Edison often reworked existing technology, making it more practical for widespread use.

Edison was born on February 11, 1847, a day that {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (celebrate) as National Inventors' Day today. The Thomas Edison Center, which was created in memory of Edison, is at Menlo Park in New Jersey. It is said that the seven years Edison spent at the lab he created in New Jersey were the most {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (product).

"Menlo Park is the birthplace of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (record) sound. It was in Menlo Park {#blank#}7{#/blank#} Edison invented the phonograph （留声机） in 1877. The invention led to the 30-year-old Ohio native's international fame. From then on, he was known {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the "Wizard （奇才） of Menlo Park."

A phonograph was the first device that was used {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (reserve) sound. It was the precursor （先驱） to record albums and CDs. The original model had no volume knob （旋钮）, so listeners would have to control the sound by {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (place) a sock in the machine. That's where we get the expression "put a sock in it", which means "stop talking".

 The recent opening of a new exhibition building at the Sanxingdui Museum, in Guanghan, in Sichuan province, made the place {#blank#}1{#/blank#} instant tourist hot spot. The bronze heads, golden masks, holy trees and various statues reveal the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( mystery) faces of a culture dating back more than 3,000 years.

 For those who cannot make it to Guanghan, where the extensive site of Sanxingdui is located, an immersive exhibition equipped with digital technology, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ( title) Hello Sanxingdui, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}( offer) an alternative means to be awed by the magnificence of this Bronze Age culture. It is running at the Longfu Art Museum in Beijing until Feb 29.

 It provides a time- travel experience for both an educational and artistic appeal. The journey begins {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a brief timeline of texts, photos and videos, showing how Sanxingdui was first discovered in the 1920s,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} objects were found by farmers digging an irrigation ditch(灌溉沟渠); and it highlights the important moments in the past century's continued archaeological efforts, to reveal the myths surrounding Sanxingdui and the secrets yet {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ( uncover).

 On show {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( be) life- size reproduction s of dozens of astonishing artifacts, supervised by Sanxingdui Museum, such as 2.6- meter bronze statues, 3.8- meter- wide bronze masks and" the holy tree" standing nearly 4 meters.

 Images of these objects found at Sanxingdui and their {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( pattern) have been digitalized, animated and projected on screens, leading the audience into the ancient kingdom of Shu, a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( civilize) that thrived for centuries in the southwest during the Zhou Dynasty, and disappeared suddenly, leaving many myths and legends.
