My most {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (embarrass) moment occurred last month. I was invited to attend {#blank#}2{#/blank#} interview for a job as a hotel receptionist. I arrived on time and was shown into the manager's office by m an {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (assist). I was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} nervous that I didn't catch the manager's name.

    The interview began, “Do you have any previous experience in hotels?” asked the manager. “No sir,” I said. The manager frowned (皱眉). “Are you good {#blank#}5{#/blank#} using computers?” “Yes, Sir, I am {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (family) with most popular kinds of software. The manager frowned again. He didn't look a friendly person- The interview continued. Every answer I gave {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (receive) by a frown from the manager, even though I told him about my communication skills, my knowledge of French and so on.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (obvious), I was doing very badly. At last, the interview came to a close. “One final question,” said the manager. “How good is your eyesight?” “Excellent, sir,'' I replied. “Very well,'' said the manager, “Thank you for coming.” I stood up {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (shake) hands with him. When the manager stood up as well, I realized {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I had been doing wrong. The gentleman I had been calling “sir” during the whole interview was wearing a skirt! The manager was a woman! I didn't get the job.

    Christmas is the most important festival in the western world. It{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fall) on December 25^th . When my mother and I stayed in America, we{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(invite) by one of my mother's friends to observe Christmas with an American family. We bought some{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(present) for our American friends on our way{#blank#}4{#/blank#} their house.

   They had prepared different kinds of gifts for their family and guests when we got to their house, such as Christmas candles, cakes, cards, little toys, biscuits and so on. A Christmas tree was placed in{#blank#}5{#/blank#} corner of the brilliant hall.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} beautiful it was! We were impressed by these. We had a big meal. After dinner, they told us some interesting stories about Christmas.

    We learned that Christmas had something to do with Jesus. We went to bed at midnight{#blank#}7{#/blank#} we knew the Santa Claus was not true, we were still waiting for the Santa Claus{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(bring) us presents. And we received many beautiful presents the next morning.

    This Christmas was really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(forgettable). Not only {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I have a good time, but also I knew something about foreign culture.

    Tea is one of the most popular {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(drink) in the world. You make it by pouring hot water over the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(dry) leaves of a tea plant. For centuries people believed that tea could cure illnesses, and they used it as medicine. Today scientists know that tea contains chemicals that prevent cells from {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(die). Most teas have caffeine in them, a substance that makes you feel more active. Some people have problems drinking tea because it can cause {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(sleep).

    The tea plant grows best in tropical and temperate places {#blank#}5{#/blank#} rain falls throughout the year. Tea plants can be grown from sea level {#blank#}6{#/blank#} about 2,000 meters above sea level, but the best quality grows in higher regions.

    Tea{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(come) from the leaves and buds of tea plants. Wild plants can be up to 9 meters high but on tea plantations they {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(cut) back to a bush of about a meter in height so that workers can pull the leaves {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(easy). It takes a plant tree to five years before it is ready for picking.

    A picker can harvest about 20 kg of tea a day. On large tea plantations the leaves are harvested by machines,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} the quality of tea is higher when the leaves are picked by hand.

    A critical factor "that plays a part in people's susceptibility(敏感性)to colds is age. In the past four years, the University of the Michigan School of Public Health {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (do)a study, revealing some general ru1es for the public. It says that babies are most likely {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (catch)a cold. Babies will catch more than six colds during their first year {#blank#}3{#/blank#} average. Besides, boys have more colds than girls when they are under the age of three. When they grow older than three years old, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is easier for girls to catch colds than boys. Girls might catch three colds, while boys catch two {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (annual).

    Generally speaking, the incidents of colds continue to decline while people are growing older. One exception is found among people in their {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (twenty), especially women, who show a rise in cold infections. This is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} people in this age group have young babies to bring up. Wang Ping was swept up into the center of them. After a while Li Qiang caught up with him.

    Arriving at a strange-looking house, Wang Ping showed Li Qiang into a large room. The wall of the room was made of trees. The leaves of the trees provided {#blank#}9{#/blank#} with much-needed oxygen. After having a meal and a bath, Li Qiang found himself {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (exhaust) and then he slid into bed.
