Now more than 40 million around the world are learning Chinese, according to a report. The relationship the United States and China is becoming more and more important in the world. This has really the growth of Chinese language learning in U.S.
I am Chris from the United States. I am one of the many people are learning Chinese. I am studying at a Confucius Institute(孔子学院)in New York. There are 10 students in our class. Some are over thirty years old. Some are middle school students. Our teacher comes from Beijing. He is fun and often tells us interesting things in China.
I think Chinese is to learn. The biggest challenge for American learners is the writing. Chinese is different from any other language in the world. It will take me a lot of time to learn enough Chinese characters(汉字). But I think there are many benefits (益处) of time in learning Chinese. One important benefit is that it makes me see things from a point of view, because Chinese is a different language from English. I think for American the students most important benefit is that a challenging language can open up their eyes.

Have you ever been to Thailand? And what did you learn about Thai people? After traveling {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Thailand for over a month, I've seen and learnt quite a few things not just about the country, but also about{#blank#}2{#/blank#} people. Here are some things that I've learnt about Thai people.
They always give you the warmest, friendliest smile if you smile first.
Thai people are often very {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, and many of them smile at you in the street. But most of the times, they look at you. If your {#blank#}4{#/blank#}meet and you smile, then they smile back right away. If you don't smile, however,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} do they. My experience is that they smile more brightly than you when you smile first.
No matter(无论){#blank#}6{#/blank#} early you get up in the morning, most people are already awake and working. It's true that I'm an early bird. But no matter when I get up, it feels like Thai people have been awake for just a little {#blank#}7{#/blank#}than me. They are already in their shops, at the markets or in the factories {#blank#}8{#/blank#}I get up. It's not that Thai people never sleep; they just don't sleep the way we do.
When it comes to transport, there's no such thing as “full”.
The buses are always {#blank#}9{#/blank#}in Thailand. Even if some kids have to hang (悬挂)off the end of the bus, there is still space {#blank#}10{#/blank#}more people. Once we had about 33 people in a very small bus. It was crazy!

Do you have a healthy lifestyle? I think I do. First, I have many good eating habits. I like junk food, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I hardly eat it. I eat fruit and vegetables every day. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they are not very delicious, but they {#blank#}3{#/blank#} good for health. Second, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} every day. It is said that if people run every day, then will have more {#blank#}5{#/blank#} hearts than others, so I run for about thirty minutes every morning. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, I have good living habits. I try to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} eight hours every night. That{#blank#}8{#/blank#}me to be energetic(j精力充沛的) the next day. And I can study better and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}good grades(成绩).What do you {#blank#}10{#/blank#}of my lifestyle? Can you learn something from it?

I like reading. I love many different kinds of books, because they not only open my mind but also give me {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.
Up to now I have read a lot of books, such as magazines, novels and storybooks. But one of the books that I like best is The Story of My Life. It was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} by American writer Helen Keller in 1902. She was a blind, deaf and dumb person. In the book, she wrote that she had not been able to see, hear or speak {#blank#}3{#/blank#} she was one year and seven months old. This unusual thing made her very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Luckily, she met her good teacher, Miss Sullivan {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the age of seven. Helen was getting happier every day. Then, Miss Sullivan helped her learn how to write English words. At first, Miss Sullivan wrote some words on Helen's hands with her own fingers again and again. Helen was a very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} girl. She tried as much as possible to remember words. After that, she wrote many famous works. The Story of My Life is one of {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.
The Story of My Life describes her hard struggle (奋斗) to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a good writer and educationist of the world.
It {#blank#}9{#/blank#} us an important truth: Nothing is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} if you put your heart into it! This is why I like it best. What about you?
