14-year-old Brooke Eriekson likes to sleep．  1 on weekends．she wants to sleep late(睡懒觉)．But Brooke's mom thinks that Brooke should get up at，the same time every day,So she'll get used to(习惯于)getting up early．

    Both(两个)Brooke and her mom are right．Sleeping late in the moming makes it more difficult to sleep at night．  2  Then it gets more difficult to get up the next morning．Getting up and going to bed at the same times every day helps the body to get enough rest(足够的休息)．

    3  They need 8 to 9 hours of sleep each night，rbut many of them can only get 6 to 7 hours of sleep on school nights．If someone doesn't have enough sleep for a long time，he may feel tired and not happy，and be easier to get ill．Being tired makes it more difficult to remember things，to do well in school and to do well in sports and other activities．

    A Famous Building

    Build a model of a famous building. You can use wood, paper and glue but you mustn't use other things. You have to paint the model. Next class, you must describe your building but it doesn't have to be long.

    Musical Instruments

    You must make two musical instruments with plastic bottles. You can't use materials from toys or real instruments (乐器). In class, you have to play some music with the instruments for three minutes.

    A Short Film

    Make a film about your group. You can bring a video camera or a mobile phone from home. The film has to be in English. You can interview people in your group but their answers mustn't be long. You must play the film in class and introduce your group in three minutes.

    A Chopstick Plane

    You must make a plane with two chopsticks. You can use paper and glue but you can't use metal. You must test the plane in front of your teacher and your classmates in the playground. It has to fly for ten seconds.

    Every week I have a two-day holiday.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. So every weekend I have a good time . {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I sometimes go to the countryside with my classmates by bus to breathe (呼吸) the fresh air , climb the hills and enjoy the beauty of nature .Sometimes I go for a picnic in the open air with my friends by bike . There we draw pictures and take photos. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

    Last Saturday , I went on a trip with my parents .{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. We sat around it , singing and dancing happily . When we felt tried , we sat together , looked at the stars and chatted (聊天) for a long time , and then went to sleep in the tent .{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    Today, almost everyone has a smartphone. We use it to communicate (交流) with our friends, listen to music and pay for the things we buy. Smartphones make our lives convenient (方便的).

    However, many people are too dependent (依赖的) on them: We often see people sitting together with nothing to say, just playing on their phones by themselves. We often see family members playing on their phones at home without talking to one another.

    I want to tell everyone that it is time for us to think carefully about this problem. We must stop using our phones so much. Friends need to talk face to face. Families need more communication at home. Only in this way can people get closer to each other. Let's do it together.

    It is necessary to learn how to communicate with people from other cultures to build good relationships with them. Here are some rules.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Each culture has its own values, beliefs and prejudices (成见). You shouldn't judge people based on these differences. Instead, respect them for what they are. You may even learn something new.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Don't shout at others. Raising your voice doesn't make you easier to understand. Communication difficulties lie in cultural differences, not because of intelligence (智力).

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Some cultures may expect more physical contact between people. For example, some cultures may shake or touch hands more readily than others. So don't take it as impolite.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Communicating with people from other cultures can be enlightening (使人领悟的) and useful, but also have its difficulties. Expect that not everything will come out quite right or be fully understood. Be patient with others, and ask them to be patient with you.
