Some time ago one of my chairs had a broken leg. I 1 think there would be any difficulty 2 getting it fixed, as there were a lot of furniture shops near my home. So I left home one morning with the chair. I went into the first shop expecting a friendly reception(接待). But I was quite wrong. The man didn't even look at my chair.

    In the 3 shop though, the situation was just the same, and in the third and in the fourth.

    I entered 4 shop with a plan in my mind. I placed the chair on the floor and said to the 5 ,“Would you like to buy the chair ?” He 6 it carefully and said,“Yes, not a bad chair. How much do you want for it, sir?” “Twenty dollars, ”I said. “OK,” he said, “I'll give you twenty dollars,” I said. “Yes, I saw that. It's nothing.”

    7 was doing according to my plan. “What will you do with it?” I asked. “Oh, it will be easy to 8 after the repair is done.” “I'll buy it,” I said. “What do you mean? You've just sold it to me,” he said. “Yes, but I've changed my mind.” “You  9 be crazy,” he said. Then, suddenly the penny drooped. “I know what you want,” he said. “We don't do repairs, not enough money 10 with too much trouble. But I'll fix this for you.”

World Book Day is on April 23rd every year. It was set up by the UNESCO（联合国教科文组织）in 1995 to encourage people, especially teenagers, to find out the fun of reading. It is also the day to honor great writers, for example, William Shakespeare, born or dead on that day.

Many countries celebrate World Book Day. Take the UK as an example. On that day, millions of schoolchildren can buy books at a much lower price than usual in any bookstore. It has been done every year since 1998.

World Book Day is also celebrated in China. Xi Jinping, Chinese President, does lots of reading every day though he is very busy. On World Book Day 2020, he called on young people to do more reading. "Books cannot change the world, but people can change the world by changing themselves through reading." he said.

Reading can be good for people in many ways. Reading gives us information about other cultures and places of the world. When we read, we may find many things that we don't know. We would have to use our head to think about them or do more reading to find out the answers. The more we read, the more we know. The more we know, the smarter we become. What's more, reading is also one of the most important ways to learn a foreign language like English. We all know that it is difficult to learn everything in the classroom, such as the ways English people are speaking and writing today. Reading helps us.

"Reading makes a full man." Bacon said. Therefore, it is necessary for us to spend time on reading every day.

A tiny forest is a small area of closely planted, fast growing local trees. It is created to copy a natural forest.bringing all its benefits, but for a small space in cities. The first tiny forest was planted by a Japanese plant expert, Dr. Akira Miyawaki in the 1970s. It was so great that it grew quickly in countries such as Denmark. Britain Germany, Ireland and Spain.

As the name suggests, the place doesn't have to be big. An area the size of about 200 m2 is perfect. 600 trees with as many as 40 different kinds, can be planted in the place. With 2 to 7 trees every square metre, the trees are planted much more closely than the ones in normal forests. But there's still room for the trees to grow naturally without the use of fertilizers(肥料)

To plant a tiny forest, one starts with testing the soil and choosing right kinds of trees. In cities, the soil is often in poor condition. It is important to create loose and rich soil. When the soil is prepared, the community will invite school children on a planting day. The forests need 2 to 3 years of care from children. Then the trees can become self-growing. It's believed if children plant their own forest and spend a lot of time caring for it, they will grow up to be healthy adults with a sense of responsibility for the society.

Trees and forests aren't special pieces of nature that should only exist in the countryside. They need to be apart of life in cities too

Food is important. Everyone needs to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} well if he or she wants to have a strong body. Our minds also need a kind of food. This kind of food is {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. We begin to get knowledge even when we are young. Small children are {#blank#}3{#/blank#}in everything around them. They learn something while they are{#blank#}4{#/blank#} and listening. When they are getting older they begin to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} storybooks, science books..., anything they like. When they find something new, they have to ask questions and{#blank#}6{#/blank#} to find out the answers.

What is the best {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to get knowledge? If we learn {#blank#}8{#/blank#}ourselves, we will get the most knowledge. If we are{#blank#}9{#/blank#} getting answers from others and don't ask why, we will never learn more and understand {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

Some new rules about walking dogs came out in our city recently. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the rules, people are happy with this one: Citizens can no longer walk dogs in public spaces. like parks, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} green areas, schools and theatres. Some people think it's a good idea to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} pet dogs. "Before the. rules came out, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my child's safety while walking in the park." A mother said.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} , it benefits all the citizens.
