Born into {#blank#}1{#/blank#} poor family in Gaomi, Shandong Province on February 17, 1955, Mo Yan,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}original name is Guan Moye, threw himself into reading and calligraphy{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(enthusiastic) in his early years. Not only did he have a strong sense of humor,{#blank#}4{#/blank#}he was intelligent and patient. With his attention {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (fix) on literature, Mo Yan went on further education and received a Master's Degree in arts from Beijing University five years later after graduating from the PLA Academy of Arts in 1986. What happened next was{#blank#}6{#/blank#}he won China's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (high) literary prize — Mao Dun Literature Prize by his book Frog in 2011. To all Chinese's{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(amaze), he became the first Chinese writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012, which will certainly make great contributions to development of Chinese literature. Since then, he {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(consider) as the best Chinese writer in modern China. Although he is famous, he is still as common as an old shoe and he doesn't keep his readers{#blank#}10{#/blank#}a distance.

    One night last February, a seventeen-year-old Duffy drove home along a winding road, he saw a strange light thrown against the tree. “I knew it wasn't the moon”, he said. “I drive this road all {#blank#}1{#/blank#}time and I notice little things out of place.”

Two years ago, his three-year-old sister {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(eat) rat poison, and Duffy {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(instant) cleaned out her mouth, make her drink milk to protect her stomach and called doctors.

    It was the ambition of an eleven years old boy in Kansas City to be an engine driver. Born without arms, he had been sent to special schools {#blank#}1{#/blank#} he learned to use his {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (foot) as “hands”. He spend all his spare time {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (watch) trains and one day his dream came {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (truth). Seeing a deserted engine, the boy climbed in, he had no {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (difficult) in starting it up with his feet. Soon he was traveling along {#blank#}6{#/blank#} forty miles an hour. Signalmen could not see the young driver, so they set out {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(stop) the train. Meanwhile the boy reached Missouri, stopped the engine himself, and then {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(make) it go backwards. When he was near home, a railwayman caught up with the engine and stopped it. At first, he was very angry, but he smiled when the boy said {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (simple), “I like trains.” “Well, I'm glad you don't like planes!” answered {#blank#}10{#/blank#} railwayman.

    I felt butterflies in my stomach when I started calligraphy class ten years ago. I wondered what I was doing there. At that moment, I couldn't have known that I'd just made one of the best{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(choose) of my life.

    I sat down and listened to the teacher{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(introduce) the tools of the craft. Then it was time for me to try my hand I took up the brush, using the correct gesture,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (dip) it in the ink, and carefully wrote "one"{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Chinese.

    After nearly five years of practicing. I started to make versions of well-known poems. Calligraphy seemed like a bridge,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}connected me to authors from centuries past. Stroke(笔画)by stroke, word by word, I could feel their emotions, cherished my own peace and learned{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(appreciate) my daily life.

    Now, calligraphy is not just{#blank#}7{#/blank#}hobby, it is a way to remove myself from the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (worry) of life. Rolling out the paper, I can write for a whole day. Calligraphy {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(able) me to balance my busy schedule and live{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(peace).

    Newton made important contributions to every area of the scientific and mathematical concept to his generation. Born in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} rural English village on Christmas Day, 1642, he was so small that no one thought he would survive. During his childhood he spent much of his time inventing and building toys, and did not do particularly {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (good) at school. So his mother, who was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (will) to pay for his education, brought him home to look after the sheep. However, he was always so busy {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (build) small devices that the sheep would often escape.     When Cambridge was closed for two years due to the plague(鼠疫), Newton went home to work on his studies. It is a popular belief {#blank#}8{#/blank#} on one occasion he was sitting under an apple tree {#blank#}9{#/blank#} an apple fell on his head, which helped him to understand the laws of gravity. It is now thought that perhaps he invented this story in later field to explain how he drew his {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (inspire) from everyday events.
