This story took place in 1903. Adam, an American businessman, was carried out to sea by a strong wind. A ship {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (spot) and rescued him, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  was how he got to London by accident. He at once went to the American embassy {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (ask) for help, but was refused. Two rich gentlemen invited him home because of a bet. They asked Adam a few questions, and Adam responded {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a polite manner. They gave him a letter and asked him not to open it until two pm. Adam left wondering {#blank#}5{#/blank#} would happen to him.

     How time flies! I will be a senior high school student this term. I am very excited and nervous. I feel excited because I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) more knowledge from my new teachers.  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (especial), I can learn more about English, math, physics, chemistry and biology. I think they are {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(interest). I can meet many new {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(friend) in senior high school as well. I feel nervous because I heard that it is difficult{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(study) in senior high school. I think I will meet many problems. But it's nothing serious, because I know if I work hard, I will be successful at last.

    My time in China was a(an){#blank#}1{#/blank#} (forget) experience. Every day was a new adventure. I made life-long friends and had many{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(last) memories. My study abroad program organized trips for us to learn about each city and to visit cultural {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (sight). While I was in Beijing, I climbed the Great Wall of China, and visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Bird's Nest Olympic stadium. I also had the opportunity of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (stick) in a Beijing thunderstorm, bargaining in the market, and riding the high-speed train. While I was in Tianjin, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(study) at Nankai University. I was taking the Chinese language and culture courses{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I enjoyed most is that whatever I learned in class, I would use it outside to communicate with people. Having the opportunity {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (speak) Mandarin every day really improved my learning. In the afternoon I would have culture classes{#blank#}8{#/blank#} I would learn about Chinese calligraphy, Beijing opera, Chinese martial arts, Chinese cooking and many other subjects. The mix of learning about the language and culture made each day of class {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (enjoyable') exciting.

    I believe that the key {#blank#}10{#/blank#}studying abroad successfully is the attitude you carry. Going to China, I was open-minded and had a very positive attitude.

    Currently， both women and men {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(surround) by magazines and websites full of tips about dieting， exercise and fashion. Gone are the days {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all men had to think about wearing a nice suit to be smart and handsome. Things have changed.

    Now， a survey has suggested that 80% of men admit {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) unhappy about their body. The biggest body issues for {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) were beer bellies and lack of muscles. Some think it is because {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the pressure of influence of role models we see on TV and in magazines. People end up with a perception of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the perfect body should look like. But not everybody wants to put in the effort to have perfect muscles like Arnold Schwarzenegger. An opportunistic designer has even invented a muscle­enhancing shirt {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(make) the buyer look more of a strong man．

    But Joe Warner，the former editor of Men's Fitness magazine， thinks the muscle­enhancing shirt is just {#blank#}8{#/blank#} trick. He thinks many people in the country are overweight and should accept they need to do more exercise {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(regular)．Exercise is always good. But we mustn't forget beauty is only skin deep. Character is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (important) than appearance.

    Few people I know seem to have much desire or time to cook. Making Chinese {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(dish) is seen as especially troublesome. Many westerners {#blank#}2{#/blank#} come to China cook much less than in their own countries once they realize how cheap {#blank#}3{#/blank#} can be to eat out. I still remember {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (visit) a friend who'd lived here for five years and I {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(shock) when I learnt she hadn't cooked once in all that time.

    While regularly eating out seems to {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(become) common for many young people in recent years, it's not without a cost. The obvious one is money; eating out once or twice a week may be {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(afford) but doing this most days adds up. There could be an even {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (high) cost on your health. Researchers have found that there is a direct link between the increase in food eaten outside the home and the rise in {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(weigh) problems.

    If you are not going to suffer this problem, then I suggest that the next time you go to your mum's home {#blank#}10{#/blank#} dinner, get a few cooking tips from her. Cooking food can be fun. You might also begin to notice the effects not only on your health but in your pocket.

Body language is one of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} most powerful means of communication, often even more powerful than {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(speak) language. People around the world show all kinds of feelings, wishes and attitudes that they might never speak aloud. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} is possible to "read" others around us, even {#blank#}4{#/blank#}they do not want us {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(catch) their unspoken communication. Of course, body language can be misread, but many{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(gesture) and actions are universal. The most universal {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(face) expression is, of course, the smile—its function is to show happiness and put people {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ease. It does not always mean that we are {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(true) happy, however. Smiles around the world can be false, hiding other feelings like anger, fear or worry. There {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(be) unhappy smiles, such as when someone "loses face" and smiles to hide it. However, the general purpose of smiling is to show good feelings.
