A festival for the Dead is held once a year in Japan. This is a traditional festival in Japan and many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(celebrate) are held. This festival is a cheerful occasion. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}this day, the dead are said to return to their homes and they are welcomed by the living. As they are expected to be {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(hunger) after their long journey, food is laid out for them. Specially-made lanterns are hung outside each house {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(help) the dead to find their way. All night long, people dance and sing. In the early morning, the food that has been laid out for the dead is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(throw) into a river or into the sea as {#blank#}6{#/blank#}is considered unlucky for anyone living to eat it. In towns{#blank#}7{#/blank#}are near the sea, the small lanterns hung in the streets the night before are placed into the water when the festival is over. Thousands of lanterns slowly drift（漂）out to sea {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(guide) the dead on their return journey to the other world. At {#blank#}9{#/blank#}same time, crowds of people stand on the shore watching the lanterns drifting away  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}they can be seen no more.

    A young man and an old man were waiting for a bus. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} sat next to each other. “What's that in your bag?” asked the young man, pointing to a big bag beside the old man. “Gold. There was nothing but gold,” answered the old man. The young man could not believe his own ears and was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} great surprise. Then he began to think about {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to get the money. The old man was very tired and it seemed that he could hardly keep his eyes open. After a while the old man {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (lie) down on the chair and fell asleep.

    The young man took {#blank#}5{#/blank#} big bag gently and quietly. But when he was just about to run away, he found a corner of his fur coat was under the old man's body. Several times he tried to pull it out,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} in vain. At last he took off his coat,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (think) that the gold in the bag must cost far more than his fur coat.

    Worried but {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (delight), the young man ran out of the station as quickly as his legs could carry him, until he reached a place {#blank#}9{#/blank#} he thought the old man couldn't find him. He stopped and quickly opened the bag but he just found a great many of small stones in it. Then he ran back to the station {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (hurry) only to find that the old man was gone.

    “Equal pay for equal work” is a phrase by the American women who feel they are {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fair) treated by society. They think it is not right for women to be paid less than men for the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}amount of work. Some people say men have more duties than women. A married man has to earn money to support his family and make important {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (decide), so it is right for them to be paid more. Some are even against married women {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(work) at all. When wives go out to work, they say, the home and children {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (give) no attention to. If women are encouraged by equal pay to take up jobs, they will not {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (able) to do the things that they are best at doing: making a nice home and bringing {#blank#}7{#/blank#}children. Women who disagree say that they want to escape from the limited place which society wishes them to fill and have {#blank#}8{#/blank#} freedom to choose between a job and home life,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} a mixture of the two. In fact women have the right not only {#blank#}10{#/blank#} equal pay but also to equal chances.

    Wang Peng felt very frustrated when he saw none of his patrons (常客) would eat in his restaurant as {#blank#}1{#/blank#}( usually). In his opinion, nothing could be {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(good)than his fried , mutton kebabs , fatty pork or his sugary cola . Who won his customers? He followed one of his best {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(friend) into Yong Hui's newly-opened slimming restaurant and was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(amaze) at the menu there :raw vegetables , fruit and water . {#blank#}5{#/blank#} was obvious that Yong Hui was telling lies when promising to make the customers thinner. In order to win his customers {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, he went to the library to do some research, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}showed Yong Hui's menu didn't give the customers energy-giving food .Having found out the{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(weak ) of Yong Hui's menu , Wang Peng wrote his own sign ,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(say) energy-giving food served. In fact, there was weakness in Wang Peng's menus, too .Food at his restaurant {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(contain) too much fat . So the only solution is to combine the two menus together to be a balanced menu.
