Long ago there was a poor farmer called Fred. Fred and his wife Doris lived {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(happy) together in their small old house. One winter night, the Luck Fairy visited {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    “Fred, you're a good farmer. I'd like to give you a wish,” said the Luck Fairy.

    “A wish?” said Fred.

    Fred and Doris smiled {#blank#}3{#/blank#}each other. Then Fred said, “Thank you, Luck Fairy. We're very healthy and happy.”

    “You work very hard {#blank#}4{#/blank#}you make very little money. Would you like some gold coins?” asked the Luck Fairy.

    “We're poor, but we have enough food {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(eat).” replied Fred.

    “You can use the gold coin to buy {#blank#}6{#/blank#}clothes. The winter here is very cold,” said Luck Fairy.

    “{#blank#}7{#/blank#} we haven't got many clothes, we've got enough.” said Doris.

    “Well, what about {#blank#}8{#/blank#}nice new house?” asked Luck Fairy.

    “Thank you, but I love my small old house very much. I {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(live) here since I was born. We don't need a new house,” said Fred.

    “You're quite different {#blank#}10{#/blank#}others. I like you very much,” said the Luck Fairy. “I wish you happy forever.” Then the Luck Fairy disappeared and never came back.

    This year I was chosen as the vice monitor (副班长) of the class. At first, I was really excited to have been chosen. And I like the monitor, Charlie as well,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} has a funny face but works very hard.

    My best friend, Sally, was also happy for me. She said the last vice monitor, Joey, had been very rude and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (kind) to her. She always talked about it, but I usually {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (ignore) it.

    Charlie and I have to stay behind after school to make sure the classroom is clean. I came back before Charlie last Thursday. I found Sally at Joey's desk {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (cut) up Joey's English textbook. I was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (extreme) shocked. Sally asked me not to tell anyone. After that, she ran out and Charlie came in.

    Charlie saw the book and soon realized {#blank#}6{#/blank#} had happened. He asked me what I had seen but I said {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. The next day, Joey was crying. She was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (frighten) to tell our teacher because he may think she did it. Sally is happy about this. This makes me angry. Charlie insists that I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (tell) our teacher the truth, but I am concerned {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the friendship with Sally. What should I do?

    A young man wanted to find a job after{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(finish) school. One day he came to a big company for it. There were six young people that day{#blank#}2{#/blank#}the Company only wanted one. The interview was very easy. It was only a five{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(minute) short talk. Then the six young People all went home.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the morning of the third day, the young man got a text message. It{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(say). We are sorry to tell you that you cannot work in our company."

    The young man felt very sad, but he answered{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(polite)"Thank you all the same."{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(late)that afternoon, the young man got another text message saying "We are glad{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(tell)you that you can be one of us!”

    The young man didn't know why. People in the company told him, "That's because of{#blank#}9{#/blank#} same message in the morning. Only you said “Thank you". That was the real test, and only you gave the right answer."

    When you feel{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(disappoint), do not forget to say "thank you" to the one who disappoints you.

    The Czech Republic really loves celebrations, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(include) anniversaries, national holidays and many other festivals.

    In the fall they hold their harvest festival in different regions. People basically celebrate the harvest, recognizing that they have enough food to survive through winter. It's a tradition that dates back{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the time when people didn't have enough food to eat, so many died from {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(hungry).

    I felt very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(luck) to go to a village, where a festival was being held. This village is known for its outdoor museum{#blank#}5{#/blank#} shows the lives of people from the past and the jobs they did.

    In the afternoon, there were not only performances of singing and dancing, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}also plenty of other activities to do. Bands started to play traditional Czech music on the stage. People in the garden{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(drink) beer and enjoyed {#blank#}8{#/blank#}wonderful music that everyone there relaxed.

    Through festivals Czech people remind{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) of their history, and at the same time have {#blank#}10{#/blank#}good time together with their families and friends.
