Today, after finishing dinner in town, my husband and I were driving back home. As we pulled over, we saw a couple painting their furniture.

    I went inside our home, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (change) and then went back out again to ask our neighbors if they needed any help. While leaving my home, I was plagued (困扰) by thoughts of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (embarrass), denial, or being received. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, I gathered the courage to go down and ask {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ,anyway!

    Initially, the woman denied. Then, the man said, “Sure”, and he handed me a spray paint bottle. We got into some good conversations {#blank#}5{#/blank#} painting with great effort.  When we finished, I briefly chatted with them before leaving.

    In the end, not only {#blank#}6{#/blank#} I enjoy helping them, but also learned about my neighbors. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the way home, I must admit, I couldn't help but wonder {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they might be thinking about me.  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is tough to do a good deed for others and not expect that they will be thinking good about you.

    Today's experience taught me some  {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (value) lessons in my life! Hopefully, these lessons will help me continue my acts of kindness in future.

    I wonder {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it is because I haven't been able to be outdoors for so long {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I have grown so crazy about everything to do with nature. I can well remember that there was a time {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a deep blue sky, the song of the birds, moonlight and flowers could never have kept {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(myself) spellbound. For example, one evening when it was so warm, I stayed awake {#blank#}6{#/blank#} purpose until half past eleven in order {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(have) a good look at the moon by myself. But as the moon gave for too much light, I didn't dare open a window. Another time five months ago, I happened to be upstairs until the window had to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(shut). The dark, rainy evening, the wind, the thundering clouds held me {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(entire) in their power; it was the first time in a year and a half that I {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(see) the night face to face.

    The makers of a hotly debated computer game about bullying have decided to go ahead and put it into market despite calls for it {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(forbid). In the game, players take on the role of a new student at a school and have to fight the bullies , by striking them or hitting them{#blank#}2{#/blank#} a baseball bat.

    Critics have said that the game encourages {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(violent). The makers, however, disagree and say that, while the game might be a little violent at times, it is just an {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (amuse)  look at school life. Besides, they argue that the fighting in the game {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( direct) against the bullies to protect students who are being bullied. The makers also say that the players will learn to stand up to bullies,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} use their strength or power to hurt or frighten other people. “Nobody should bully others just because they want to feel stronger or{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(important),” said the makers.

    A British politician, a former minister, has called for it to be banned as it might have {#blank#}8{#/blank#}negative influence on the way young people think of violent behaviors.

    Anti-bullying {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (charity) that fight against school bullying have said that the game might make people respond violently to bullies, which might make things more complicated and result in injuries. In other words, people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(possible) get hurt because of the game.

    Yuan Longping, born and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bring) up in China, is a leading figure in the rice-growing world. When he was a boy, he {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (educate) in many schools, and was given the nickname, “the student {#blank#}3{#/blank#}asks questions.”

    He was interested in plants from an early age, and he studied agriculture in college. As a young teacher, he began {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(experiment) in crop breeding. Dina was an outgoing and kind person and had the ability to gain valuable data about their lives by becoming a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(company)to them. She wrote a book about the gorillas she had lived {#blank#}6{#/blank#} It is thanks to her research {#blank#}7{#/blank#}we now know more about mountain gorillas. Her love for the gorillas teaches people about dangers these animals {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(face)with. Now they are protected by governments and various organizations. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}her work, there would be very few mountain gorillas left today. She has received world's {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(famous)around the world and is now regarded as one of the heroes of the 20^th century.

    When it comes to climate change, language does count. In March, the Guardian changed{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(it) wording – using "global heating" instead of "global warming" , after scientists found that Earth's temperature is set {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(rise) from between 2.5C and 4.5C. And on May 1, the UK parliament declared a "climate emergency", {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(become)the first parliament to do so.

    If with "global warming", we're still inside our comfort zone of handling the situation, entering the state of "global heating" is like heading to a point {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the delicate balance of nature is disturbed so much that there is no turning back. Everything will be changing: Coral will die, polar bears will lose their habitats completely, and extreme{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (weather) like droughts and heavy storms will happen at a higher{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (frequent). There is no denying that we're entering a climate emergency.

    Decades ago when the science on the climate issue was first increasing, the impacts could be seen as an issue for future generations," but now it's {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(definite) our issue, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}shift we all are living together.

    However, getting these messages {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is far from enough. It depends on each to find a solution – if there are any solutions left to find. The UK's Labor leader Jeremy urged that "we {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(take) rapid and dramatic action now".

    Indeed, language matters. But action matters even more.
