    You get up in the morning and look into the mirror. Your face is firm and young-looking. In 2035, medical technology is better than ever. Many people of your age could live to be 150, so at 40, you're not old at all. And your parents just had an anti-aging (抗衰老的) treatment. Now, all three of you look the same age!

    You say to your shirt, “Turn red.” It changes from blue to red. In 2035, “smart clothes” contain particles(粒子) much smaller than the cells in your body. The particles can be programmed to change clothes' color or pattern.

    You walk into the kitchen. You pick up the milk, but a voice says, “You shouldn't drink that!” Your fridge has read the chip (芯片) that contains information about the milk, and it knows the milk is old. In 2035, every article of food in the grocery store has such a chip.

    It's time to go to work. In 2035, cars drive themselves. Just tell your “smart car” where to go. On the way. You can call a friend using your jacket sleeve. Such “smart technology” is all around you.

    So will all these things come true? “For new technology to succeed,” says scientist Andrew Zolli, “it has to be so much better that it replaces what we have already.” The Internet is one example. What will be the next?

Scholastic Art: What is your job?

Jayson Fann: I build human-sized nests all over the world.

SA: Can people sit in your nests?

JF: Yes! People have dinner parties in my nests. They read and relax in them. Some of my nests even have several rooms. My nests are even used as hotel rooms.

SA: How do you make a nest?

JF: First, I make a design for the nest. Then I review the design with my client（客户）. After the design is final, I collect wood and work with a team to build it.

SA: What do you use to make your nests?

JF：I use eucalyptus（按树）wood， which is soft and easy to bend when it is young and freshly cut. But when it dries, it becomes extremely hard. So it holds its shape and can support weight. But the structure's strength also comes from the engineering -- how I weave the wood, and how I join major sections by bolting（用螺栓固定）them together.

SA: What makes a great nest design?

JF: Placement is important. The lines of the branches（树枝） create movement and energy, resulting in a cleaner, simpler background -- such as smooth stone or the sky -- which really fits the nest. For me, it's all about balance.

SA: What skills do you need for your job?

JF: You have to be able to draw and use different artistic tools. But you also have to know how to speak to people -- your clients and the people who work for you.

SA: What inspires you?

IF: I love to see how other artists, like Andy Goldsworthy, take common and natural materials and make something special with them.

SA: What is the best part of your job?

JF: I get to be creative in a way that doesn't harm the environment!

    Kulangsu Gallery of Foreign Artefacts from the Palace Museum Collection

    Location: Kulangsu, Xiamen, Fujian Province

    The gallery is a major place for the Palace Museum to showcase its splendid collection of international art. Most of these works have been kept in the storehouse of the museum and have never been shown to the public. Originally from Europe, East Asia, and North America, these international works date from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.

    Exhibition Commemorating the 120^th Anniversary of Zhang Boju's Birth

    The exhibition features traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy from state-owned museums. Divided into three sections, the exhibition displays artwork organized in order of time, which offers a comprehensive overview of Zhang Boju's collection through this impressive gathering of the collector's works.

    Discovering the Hall of Mental Cultivation

    Location: The Gate of the Correct Department (Duan men)

    Dates: April 3, 2018 through April 24, 2018

    The exhibition allows visitors new ways to explore the history of the forbidden city with a simple click and celebrates the 92^nd anniversary of the establishment of the Palace Museum, established on October 10, 1925. Adding to the museum's new displays, this exhibition combines traditional Chinese culture and contemporary technologies.

    Treasures from the Al Thani Collection

    Location: The Meridian Gate (Wu men)

    Dates: April 17, 2018 through July 18, 2018

    The Al Thani Collection allows visitors to see cultural landscapes that have been lost in the depths of history. Artefacts from Egypt and Persia throw light on mysteries known to few. Different peoples have marked these relics with their own styles, which reflect the unique sources of each culture but strike the viewers with an equally powerful charm.

    When we have troubles we turn to our family. But what would we do if we lost our family? I want to share with you a touching film about an Indian child who loses his loved ones.

    The main character in the 2016 Australian film Lion is a child named Saroo. When he is 6 years old, he follows his brother Guddu to a job, but gets lost. Saroo ends up in a new city and is adopted by a kind Australian family.

    However, one day Saroo is reminded of his original family. He knows immediately that he must find out as much about them as he can, so he racks his brains (绞尽脑汁)for all that he can remember.

    Lion is the most moving film that I have ever seen. When I saw the young Saroo trying to help his brother while they worked on a construction site at such a young age, I was amazed.

    In today's society，the poor are always looked down upon. But I saw in the eyes of young Saroo great courage and kindness that made me think differently. He has great qualities that help him survive in the strange city where he finds himself.

    When Saroo sees that people are kind he rewards them with the sweetest smiles and loves them with all of his heart. Saroo's goodness, I believe, allows him to live a happy life with his Australian foster (收养)family.

    It is unbelievably hard for Saroo to reunite with his original family. He can't even remember the name of his hometown. It takes him days to find the real one. In fact, he has to go through every alternative (供选择的东西)he can find on Google Maps.

I'm deeply impressed by Saroo's determination. It is why, when I saw the movie, I cried at the moment when he finally found his mother.

    Lion is full of moving and impressive details. There are so many that I can only mention a few of them here. But what stands out most to me is Saroo's commitment (投身)to finding his original family，and the fact that his search doesn't stop him from loving his foster family.

    I want to recommend this film to everyone. See it and you'll come to understand so much about family and love.

    Nine years ago, a few days before Christmas, I was a director at a company in San Francisco, and I was called into a meeting that was already in progress. That meeting turned out to be my exit interview. I was 64 years old at the time. It wasn't completely unexpected. I signed a pile of papers and left the company.

    So, 40 plus years of employment was over. I had a good reputation and background. Retirement was not a choice for me. I wanted to do something. And then an idea came into my mind, born from my concern for our environment. I wanted to build my own business, designing and producing biodegradable(可生物降解的)packaging from waste. This is called clean technology, and it was really meaningful to me. It could help reduce billions of pounds of single-use plastic packaging wasted each year.

    Five years later, I'm delighted and proud to share with you that our income has doubled every year and we have no debt. Meanwhile, I have a wonderful partner, and we've won more than 20 awards for the work that we've done.

    And I am doing the most rewarding and meaningful work of my life right now. But what I really long for is to find other first-time entrepreneurs(企业家)who are my age. I want to connect with them.

    So I want to do something about that in a few years. I want us to start talking more about people who don't become entrepreneurs until they are seniors. And then connecting all of them across industries, regions and countries—building a community.

    You probably know who Marie Curie was, but you may not have heard of Rachel Carson. Of the outstanding ladies listed below, who do you think was the most important woman of the past 100 years?

    Jane Addams(1860-1935)

    Anyone who has ever been helped by a social worker has Jane Addams to thank. Addans helped the poor and worked for peace. She encouraged a sense of community(社区)by creating shelters and promoting education and services for people in need . In 1931, Addams became the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

    Rachel Carson(1907-1964)

    If it weren't for Rachel Carson, the environmental movement might not exist today. Her popular 1962 book Silent Spring raised awareness of the dangers of pollution and the harmful effects of chemicals on humans and on the world's lakes and oceans.

    Sandra Day O'Connor(1930-present)

    When Sandra Day O'Connor finished third in her class at Stanford Law School, in 1952, she could not find work at a law firm because she was a woman. She became an Arizona state senator(参议员) and ,in 1981, the first woman to join the U.S. Supreme Court. O'Connor gave the deciding vote in many important cases during her 24 years on the top court.

    Rosa Parks(1913-2005)

    On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rasa Parks would not give up her seat on a bus to a passenger. Her simple act landed Parks in prison. But it also set off the Montgomery bus boycott. It lasted for more than a year, and kicked off the civil-rights movement. "The only tired I was, was tired of giving in," said Parks.
