A Concert

    The Newtown School will have a concert on Children's Day. Ann, Ken and David will play together in the concert. Ann will play the piano, Ken will play the guitar, and David will play the drums. Mocky will not play in the concert, but he will go, too.

    All the children and their parents are at the concert, but David will not be there because he is not well today. Who will play the drums? Ken and Anil are worried. But Mocky can play the drums. Believe it or not, he can play really well.

    Santa is ready to go! Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!

    He flies in the sky! He comes at night!

    He sees Christmas trees and lights!

    In children's houses, he gives the gifts to little girls and boys.

    He brings toys and special gifts.

    He goes to the West.

    He goes to the East.

    "Ho! Ho！Ho！" The happy little old man!

    Mr Smith is a kind man. He often gave money to a beggar (乞丐) on his way home. One day the beggar asked him, "What's the matter, sir? Two years ago I got one hundred yuan from you. Last year you gave me five yuan every time you saw me. But this year, you only give me one yuan." Mr Smith said with a smile, "Two years ago I was single. Last year I got married (结婚) and this year I had a baby."

    The beggar said angrily, "How can you support (供养) your family with my money?"

    Mr Smith was so surprised. He just went away without saying anything to the beggar.

    Hello! My name is Nancy. I am eleven years old. I'm polite and hard working. Salad is my favourite food, because it's healthy for me. My favourite day is Monday. We have Chinese. maths, English and computer class on that day. But we don't have English on Wednesdays or Fridays. I like English very much. Miss Sun is my English teacher. She's clever and funny. Sometimes she's strict. She has black glasses for short sight. She can sing English songs well. After school I can swim with my good friend, Sam. He's a shy boy. He likes sweet food. And I can draw very well. I often draw cartoons on Saturdays.

    The Spring Festival comes in January or February every year. It is an important (重要的) Chinese festival. People also call it Chinese New Year. On Chinese New Year's Eve (除夕), families have a big dinner together. They often eat dumplings. People visit their friends and relatives (亲戚). Children often get red packets (红包) with some money (钱) in them. People also watch fireworks at night. They like the beautiful fireworks very much.
