牛津版(深圳·广州)初中英语七年级下册第二模块检测卷(Units 3&4)

阅读短文及文后A~E选项,选出可以填入各题空白处的最佳选项。

    Hundreds of years ago, no dandelions (蒲公英) grew in North America. Then people came from Europe. The seeds fell from their clothes onto the ground. Since then, dandelions have spread all over.

    Most people believe that dandelions are weeds (杂草). They do not want them in their gardens. But some people think that dandelion flowers are pretty. They cook dandelion leaves or put them into a fresh salad. The leaves must be picked before the flowers come out or they will not taste good.

    Dandelions do not die easily. If the winter is not very cold, their leaves may stay green. When spring arrives, their flowers come out.When the sun shines the next day, they open up again. Dandelion flowers are very unusual. They do not have to get pollen (花粉) from another dandelion flower in order to form seeds. So after several days, the yellow flower turns white and soft. A tiny brown seed forms at the bottom of each white petal (花瓣). When the wind blows, the petals float away. Each white petal carries a seed away. New dandelions grow where the seeds land.

A. And others think that dandelions taste good.
B. They had dandelion seeds on their clothes.
C. Each night their bright yellow flowers close up.
D. This lets the dandelions spread their seeds all over.
E. Some people make dandelion flowers into wine.

                                                                                                          Car pool(拼车)

“Beep, Beep,” goes the car horn(喇叭). You've got dressed, but you've not had time to eat breakfast. You run out of the front door with your schoolbag, and jump into the waiting car. Inside, your friends say “hey” as one of their parents drives you to school. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Car pools are a common way of transport for many students in the US. You, along with many of your friends, can sit in one car. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And your parents many take turns to drive you all to school.

  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}   If you're late, you can eat that breakfast you don't have time for at home. If you're behind on your homework, this is your last chance to finish it before class. Some simply add to their sleep time before classes begin.

Besides walking or cycling to class, car pools are green if you can't take the school bus. Instead of four cars taking four students to school each day, they can all squeeze into one. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

More importantly, car pooling teaches students valuable life lessons not taught in class. It can teach students about being on time. It can also teach them the bad influence of being late. If you're late, then all of your friends will be late too.

A. What do friends do in the car?

B. This is the daily car pool to school.

C. Of course, it's better to take the school bus.

D. Why is car pool so popular in the USA?

E. Think of how much oil that can save!

F. You share the journey to school each day.

请阅读下面短文,根据短文内容从方框中所给的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺。

A.These jobs include early childhood educator, fitness coach and makeup artist.

B.These positions used to be filled almost only by women.

C.However, there are many more choices than just these that are available today.

D.The growing demand for animal care, therefore, has encouraged more people to become veterinarians.

E. Over 60 percent of the surveyed workers have a college degree or above, the report says.

    Many of us might want to take on traditional jobs when we grow up, such as being a doctor or lawyer. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    In October, job-hunting website Zhaopin.com issued a report after surveying people who work in more than 800 different jobs in major Chinese cities. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Most of the jobs pay well, with one in three workers earning more than 8,000 yuan a month. The top-paying job is veterinarian–about 29 percent of these animal doctors earn over 20,000 yuan per month. These workers' educational background is also impressive. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Most of the workers said they chose their jobs out of love and interest in the area. Many of the jobs are no longer specific to one gender. For example, the report found that one-third of child care workers are men. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Many of these jobs are in the service industry. Economic development means people have more money to spend and are in greater need of high-quality services, China News Service noted. For example, more people have started to raise pets. Pet owners will spend over 5,000 yuan per pet this year, an increase of 15 percent from 2017, Xinhua reported.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

    When was the last time you gave or received a hug? Do your parents hug you before you go to school? In Western countries, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    You might hug your teammates after winning a basketball game. If one of your friends is having a bad day, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Friends who haven't seen each other for a long time will usually hug each other when meeting.

    Of course, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. After coming to China, I've noticed that people are generally more reluctant (不情愿的) to hug than they are in my home country, the US.

    My Chinese friends told me that hugging is considered to be very intimate (亲密的) in their culture, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, like couples. Chinese people don't usually hug in public, either.

    But people's attitudes toward hugging can also change.

    I remember watching a video story about a "hugging party" that was held in Shanghai. A local artist held the party, inviting strangers and asking them to hug each other.

    The Chinese participants clearly looked uncomfortable, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. They decided that hugging doesn't have to be awkward (尴尬的) and can actually be quite nice. So next time you see your mom or dad, give them a hug—see how it makes you feel.
