Vienna is a beautiful old city on the River Danube in the center of Europe. It's the capital city of Austria and the center of European classical music. In the 18th century a lot of musicians came to study and work in Vienna.

    In the Strauss family, there were two composers called Johann Strauss: the father and the son. The father, Johann Strauss the elder, wrote and played music for traditional dances, called the waltz. His dance music made him famous all over Europe. The son, Johann Strauss the younger, was also very successful and popular. He wrote over 150 waltzes. In 1866 he wrote The Blue Danube waltz.

    Mozart was another very important composer. He was born in Austria in 1756. Before he was six, he played not only the piano but also the violin. His family took him around Europe and he gave concerts in many cities. He wrote hundreds of wonderful pieces of music. But he became very poor and died in 1791 when he was only 35. Like Johann Strauss, father and son, he was a great European musician, and many people still think his music is perfect.

The fans are the most i {#blank#}5{#/blank#} people in the world for the singer. They buy his records, they go to his concert, and they make him rich and famous. But they can be very d{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  , too. Sometimes they do anything to get a souvenir (n. 纪念品). They steal handkerchiefs, they tear off buttons，and they even cut off pieces of the unlucky singer's hair. Many singers have been forced to ride(v.即兴表演). A pop singer has to spend a lot of money on clothes b{#blank#}7{#/blank#} he must always look special and different. And most important, he must always keeping smiling.

Eating lots of vegetables is good for our health. Different vegetables can help our bodies in different ways. Eating carrots is good for our eyes. Carrots can help us see better at night. Do you want to have strong teeth? If so, you can eat some peas(豌豆). Peas have vitamin(维生素) K in them. Vitamin K is helpful to your teeth. Do you like tomatoes? They look nice. Doctors call tomatoes "healthy vegetables", because they can help you not to get cancer(癌症). They also have a kind of special vitamin PP. It can keep our skin(皮肤) healthy. So it is important to eat some tomatoes. Don't forget about spinach(菠菜). The spinach leaves have vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. They help our bodies make red blood cells (血红蛋白).Vegetables are very important to us, but we can't only eat vegetables. We also need to eat other kinds of food to keep healthy.

    Li Qiang and Li Gang are brothers. But their living habits(习惯) are different. Now let's go to Li Qiang's room. Li Qiang cleans his bedroom every day and puts his things away. Look! There is a computer on the desk. There are two footballs under the bed. A guitar and a kite are on the wall. Some books are on the shelf. So he must be a careful boy. Now let's go to Li Gang's room. The room is not clean. There are some books on the floor. Can we see his clothes on the desk? Oh, yes. We can also see a football and a knife on the desk. Li Gang never does any cleaning. So his room is  in a mess(混乱).

    Not many years ago, a wealthy and rather strange old man named Johnson lived alone in a village in the south of England. He had made a lot of money in trading with foreign countries. When he was 75, he gave ￡12,000 to the village school to buy land and equipment for a children's playground.

As a result of his kindness, many people came to visit him. Among them was a newspaperman. During their talk, Johnson remarked that he was 75 and expected to live to be 100, and the newspaperman asked him how he managed to be healthy at 75. Johnson had a sense of humor.
