Summer Holidays(暑假) in England

    With July coming, the summer holidays begin. Boys and girls will have 60 days to rest. The weather is good. Parents will take their children to the seaside(海边) for the holidays. The children like the sand(沙子), the sun, the cool wind and the water. Certainly there are lots of things to see, good things to eat, and exciting things to do. They can play ball games. They can go on field trips, too. They study real things on the field trips. What good holidays!

    You may know the names of the sportsmen. You may also know what sports they are good at. Let me tell you more about them.

    Yao Ming is older than Liu Xiang and Wang Hao. But he is younger than Tian Liang. Yao Ming is 2. 26 metres, and is taller than the others. Tian Liang is older than the other three, but he is shorter than them.

Liu Xiang and Wang Hao were born in the same year. Wang Hao is a little younger and shorter than Liu Xiang. Liu Xiang runs faster than the others.

Zhang Peng：Hi, Wang Ping. You look fine. How heavy are you?

Wang Ping：I'm 48 kilograms. You are thinner than me, but you look taller than before. How tall are you?

Zhang Peng：I'm 1.6 metres and 45 kilograms.

Wang Ping：Oh, really? You are 0.05 metres taller than me. But I'm 3 kilograms heavier than you. You should eat more.

Zhang Peng：OK, I will. Thank you.

    Su Yang and her friends are in the park. Now, it's four in the afternoon. Su Yang is tired. She's hot too. Liu Tao is hungry now. Mike is hungry and tired. Where is Yang Ling? Look! She is over there, under a big tree. She's thirsty. But she can' t open her water bottle (壶). Liu Tao and Mike open the water for her.

    Tom is a little boy. He is five. Today his father takes him to see his grandparents. His home is far away from his grandparents'. So they are going there by bus. There are only nine people on the bus. They all have seats. Tom is very happy. He is running about on the bus. His father says, "Don't run! Sit down, please." "I miss my grandfather and grandmother very much. I want this bus to go faster," Tom says.

    The rhinoceros, often known as the rhino, is one of the world's largest animals. It is also one of the endangered animals. For many years people have hunted them for their horns.

    Today only five species of rhinos survive: the Black, the White, the Indian, the Javan and the Sumatran. They are found mainly in Africa and Southern Asia.

    Rhinos are plant-eating mammals. They eat tree bark, vines and grass. Rhinos have good hearing but poor eyesight. They sleep most of the day.

    Rhinos do not like humans. A rhinoceros can live for up to 60 years or more.
