Do you enjoy climbing mountains? I'd like to tell you a true story about John and Peter. They were {#blank#}1{#/blank#} mountaineers. As John was experienced, he was always asking Peter to copy his example. “Would you like to stand on the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} of the world, Peter?” “Of course . It has already {#blank#}3{#/blank#} my dream,”Peter answered.
On a sunny morning, the two men started for the top of Mount Qomolangma. After they climbed over one of the most {#blank#}4{#/blank#} slopes, they found a man lying in the snow. “He's going to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ,”Peter looked at John and said, as if he would help the man. “Leave him by himself and just follow me !If you bring the burden with you , I'm {#blank#}6{#/blank#} you'll lose your life.”John warned Peter . Then he turned around and walked forward {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . It was too cold. After thinking for a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} , Peter made up his mind to help the dying man. He carried the man on his back and made his way forward . Little by little , Peter's temperature made the man {#blank#}9{#/blank#} . The man came to himself! And soon he could move all by himself. Together they moved side by side.
About two hours later, they kept up with John.To his surprise , they found that John was almost dead in he snow. He had been {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to death.

   Only Mother Love is true love. It gives everybody everything all his life. When you are still a baby, mother{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  you as much as possible. In your waking hours she always holds you in her arms. When you are ill, she stops her work to look after you day and night. When you are {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  day by day, she feels very happy. When you are old enough to go to school, mother still looks after you. On cold winter days, she always tells you to {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  more clothes. She always stands in the wind {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  you back from school. When you hurry to leave home for school with little breakfast, she always {#blank#}5{#/blank#} you at home. When you do well at school, the brightest smile will be seen on her face.
   Mother is always ready to give everything she has to her children, not to receive. What true love that is in the world! We will remember Mother Love forever.

     Why do we play sports? You might say “to get exercise” and you'd be right. To have fun? That's true, too. But there's more. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} According to a study, girls who play sports get a lot more than just fit.

　　Girls who play sports do better in school. You might think that playing sports will take up all your study time. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  Exercise improves learning, and memory, which can give active girls an advantage in the classroom.

Girls who play sports learn teamwork and goal-setting skills. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} When you work with coaches, trainers, and teammates to win games and achieve goals, you're learning how to be successful. Those skills will serve you well at work and in family life.

　　Playing sports improves self-confidence.  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Why? It builds confidence when you know you can practice, improve, and achieve your goals. Sports are also a feel-good activity because they help girls get in shape, keep a healthy weight, and make new friends.

  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Playing sports can reduce stress and help you feel a little happier. How? The brain chemicals released during exercise improve a person's mood. Friends are another mood-lifter．And being on a team creates tight bonds between friends. It's good to know your teammates will support you－both on and off the field!

    Justin and Paul are at their home when the telephone rings. It's Susan. She lives n{#blank#}1{#/blank#} in Hill building. She sees some r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} there. Then the twins drive to the building at o{#blank#}3{#/blank#} They see three men r{#blank#}4{#/blank#} out of it. The men p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} the twin brothers into the van and drive away. Justin and Paul manage(设法) to open the back door of the van and then j{#blank#}6{#/blank#}out when it s{#blank#}7{#/blank#} at the traffic lights. In the police station, they are s{#blank#}8{#/blank#} to see the three men there a{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. The police tell them why and they laugh h{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

    A kind of little cars may some day take the place of today's big ones. People will like this kind of small cars more and more. The car is as small as a bike but can{#blank#}1{#/blank#}two people in it. Everybody can drive it, just like riding bike. Even children and old people can drive them to school and{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    If everyone drives such a car in the future, there will be less{#blank#}3{#/blank#}in the air. There will also{#blank#}4{#/blank#}more space for all the cars in cites, and the street will have more space for people to walk. Three such cars can fit in the space now needed for one car of the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}size.

    The little cars of the future will cost much less{#blank#}6{#/blank#}o own and to drive. And they can go only 65 kilometers an hour, so driving will be safer, too.

    The cars of the future will be fine for{#blank#}7{#/blank#}around a city, but they will not be useful, for a long trip.

    This kind of cars can save a lot of gasoline (汽油).They will go 450 kilometers{#blank#}8{#/blank#}needing to stop for more gasoline.

    If big cars are still used along with the small of{#blank#}9{#/blank#} two sets of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be needed for the big, faster cars and other roads will be needed for the small,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}cars.
