Archaeologists(考古学家) have discovered over 6000 ancient tombs in Chengdu, Sichuan. The tombs date various dynasties and were discovered during (construct) works for the Xinchuan Park. The tombs range from the Warring States Period, the Qin Dynasty, the Han Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.
Most of the tombs are put into small cliff(悬崖) cave or constructed from stones and have contained tens of thousands of (piece) of glass, coins and stone works. The team have also discovered cultural remains such as stone statues, (paint) figures and mini pottery houses.
One special discovery is a (relative) well-preserved tomb from the late Han Dynasty named the M94 Cliff Tomb, (contain) 86 burial objects and hundreds of coins. “The tomb has (high) historic and research values compared with those found before, because it (help) shape the burial traditions and ceremonies of the late Han Dynasty,” said Zuo Zhiqiang, led the archaeological team.
