It is said that Friends are God's way of taking care of us. I can't agree more. So it is my favorite {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (谚语). And it always makes me think about my best friend Sherry.

    She and I have lots of interests in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (相同). Both of us like shopping {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (在线). On weekends, we always {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (选择) to climb the mountain which is the highest in our city. We like the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (清新的) air there, and of course, it is a good way to be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (健康的). However, Sherry is more outgoing and hard-working {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (比) me.

    This year she won the English speech {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (比赛) again. She always asks me to take the study {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (严肃地). If we both have free time, she will invite me to the library to enjoy reading. It is well known that a good friend is like a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (镜子). Just like Sherry. She is my true friend who reaches my hand and touches my heart.

    Paper is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (到处). We use it for homework, money, books, letters and cards. We have paper {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （杯子）, paper bags, paper plates and so on. It was first made in China. The Chinese made the first {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （真正的） paper in the year AD 105. And the Chinese kept it as a secret for hundreds of years. By the end of the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （十二）century, paper-making reached Europe. The first paper made in Europe was in Spain in 1151. Later people improved the way of producing paper again and again.

    Because paper is made from wood, many people are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (担心)that more and more trees are cut down to produce paper. Trees are an important part of the environment. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (因此)many paper factories are using old paper instead of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (新的) wood to make paper. The way of using old products again is called recycling. Recycling paper helps {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (节省) a lot of trees every year. Many people also try to use {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （更少） paper in their lives. For example, they use both sides of every piece of paper instead of just one. They also use computersto store information. Perhaps one day in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (将来)people will not use paper to write at all.

    Eric and Chen first met in their Math class at an American college. Chen was an international student f{#blank#}1{#/blank#} China. He wanted to learn about American culture and hoped he and Eric would become good friends. At first, Eric seemed f{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He always greeted Chen warmly before class. Sometimes he offered to study with Chen. He even i{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Chen to eat lunch with him. But after the term was over and they were in different classes, Eric seemed more distant. They didn't s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} each other very much at college. One day Chen called Eric, But Eric didn't seem very interested in talking to him, Chen was h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} by Eric's change of attitude（态度）. "Eric said we were friends." Chen said. "I thought friends were friends forever. As a foreigner, he doesn't understand the way Americans view friendship.

    Americans use the word "friend" in a very general way. Their friendship is based on common i{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. When the shared activity ends and they have no the same interests, the friendship may die. Now as Eric and Chen are no longer c{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, their "friendship" has changed.

    In some culture's friendship m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} a strong life-long tie between two people—friendship develops slowly, since it is built to last. American friendship develops q{#blank#}9{#/blank#}, and it may change just as quickly.
