There was a small village near a mountain. People there loved their village very much and they grew many {#blank#}1{#/blank#} on the mountain. Water in the rivers was very clear and the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was clean. People lived a poor life, but they were very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . After a few years, some people in the village started to cut down trees to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} for money. There were some people from cities {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to visit the village. People began to kill some wild animals as {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to treat (招待) the visitors. Of course, they made lots of money. But {#blank#}7{#/blank#} knew what the village would be like in the future. As time went on, there were fewer plants and animals and the water became {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. The visitors became fewer and fewer. Several years later, people there knew they must stop destroying (破坏) {#blank#}9{#/blank#} . They would like to live a happy life as before, so they began to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} new plants. They hoped the village would become as beautiful as before.

    I like reading. I love many different kinds of books, because they not only open my mind but also give me {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    Up to now I have read a lot of books, such as magazines, novels and storybooks. But one of the books that I like best is The Story of My Life. It was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} by American writer Helen Keller in 1902. She was a blind, deaf and dumb person. In the book, she wrote that she had not been able to see, hear or speak {#blank#}3{#/blank#} she was one year and seven months old. This unusual thing made her very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Luckily, she met her good teacher, Miss Sullivan {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the age of seven. Helen was getting happier every day. Then, Miss Sullivan helped her learn how to write English words. At first, Miss Sullivan wrote some words on Helen's hands with her own fingers again and again. Helen was a very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} girl. She tried as much as possible to remember words. After that, she wrote many famous works. The Story of My Life is one of {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.
