    Each year, the news magazine Time For Kids selects several young people to serve as TFK kid reporters. These kids are not{#blank#}1{#/blank#} reporters, but they still have to interview some important people.

    Martin, who lives in New York, is a computer buff, plays the piano, and wants to be an airline pilot when he {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. When he got the assignment from TFK to interview Andrew Hsu, he wanted to talk about science. After all, Andrew had just become the{#blank#}3{#/blank#} winner of the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair. But the main thing Andrew wanted to tell Martin about was the World Children Organization (WCO). Andrew started this organization along with his brother Patrick. This project is meant to help improve the lives of children.

They know that there are places where a {#blank#}7{#/blank#}education isn't available to kids. To help{#blank#}8{#/blank#}that need, Andrew and Patrick had the idea of producing videos about science, math, and languages for children in countries where there aren't enough qualified teachers.

    Music is heard in every corner of the world: in every community and in every culture. Why? Music is part of human nature and it is needed for many {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in our lives. Music plays an important part in helping us {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, we hear it when we are shopping, in hotel, airports, and restaurants. There is music that you can dance to, sing to, or you may just{#blank#}3{#/blank#} listen to it for entertainment. In the movies, music is as important as the acting. Although most people don't {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it, a good movie has music that helps create the mood for the story. However there are times when music does more harm than good, for example, when you listen to music that is too loud. You might think this is OK now, but that's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} you're still young. Listening to loud music is not good for ears and it can even make you deaf. If music is necessary part of your world, keep the volume (音量) down.

    Growing up in England, the happiest thing for my classmates and I was reading stories. Among them, The Ugly Duckling (《丑小鸭》) was a popular one.

    The classic story of The Ugly Duckling describes a poor young bird. All the ducks {#blank#}1{#/blank#} for his ugly appearance—small and grey. Feeling sad, he begins a journey of self—discovery. Finally one day, he looks down into a pond. He {#blank#}2{#/blank#} his reflection (倒影) in the water. He was never an ugly duckling, but a beautiful swan.

    This great children's fairy tale has been a hit for years. It's even been {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a musical and Disney film. In fact, this year is the story's 175th birthday. Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen wrote it in 1843. The story teaches us many valuable lessons. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, we should not judge a person by his or her appearance. It is inner beauty that makes a person special. What's more, one should think of other people's feelings. The story's positive messages are saved by the world. Today, we use the phrase “ugly duckling” as a metaphor {#blank#}5{#/blank#}poor or bad that grows into something successful or beautiful.
