Li Qiang was taking up the prize to travel to 3008 AD. It was his first time that he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(travel) to space. So he was unsettled for the journey. Luckily, his guide, Wang Ping, was also his friend and gave him much help.

Wang Ping was swept up into the center of them. After a while Li Qiang caught up with him.

    Arriving at a strange-looking house, Wang Ping showed Li Qiang into a large room. The wall of the room was made of trees. The leaves of the trees provided {#blank#}9{#/blank#} with much-needed oxygen. After having a meal and a bath, Li Qiang found himself {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (exhaust) and then he slid into bed.

    The world's longest sea bridge {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (call) the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge has opened. The bridge {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (link) Hong Kong and Macau to mainland China. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} took more than a decade to construct it. Builders had to make artificial islands in the Pearl River Delta {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (provide) the supports for the bridge. There is also a 6.7-kilometre underwater tunnel in the middle of the bridge, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} allows ships to sail through the Delta. The new bridge stretches {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (long) than 14 Golden Gate Bridges lined up end to end. The bridge will {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (great) cut the time it takes to travel from mainland China to Hong Kong and Macau.

    Chinese President Xi attended the opening ceremony of the bridge. He hopes the new crossing will help to connect 68 million people in 11 different {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (city). China's government believes that up to 29,000 cars will cross the sea link daily by the year 2030. A trade and tourism expert said, “This makes Hong Kong a lot more accessible for goods, passengers and trade, so this is a benefit {#blank#}9{#/blank#}the economic perspective.” The bridge will be open to tourists to drive across it. However, local car owners will not be able to cross the bridge {#blank#}10{#/blank#} they have a special permit. Most drivers will take a shuttle bus to make the journey.

    Last Monday, my father would be on a{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(busy) trip for five days. Having gotten my promise of being great at home and taking care of my mother, he rest assured and put his luggage into the trunk of his car.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(see) my father's driving away, my mother and I waved our hands and said goodbye to him. For a moment, I began to miss my father,{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(wish) that he would be safe and well the next days. I thought everything would go well, as this was not the first time that my father{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be) away for several days. Yet, —{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(fortunate), my mother caught a cold the next morning. Looking at her pale face, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(experience) high levels of anxiety. However, I told myself that I had to calm down and look after my mum, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}I promised to my dad. The moment I got my mum to sleep, I put cold towel on her forehead, found pills in the medicine box, and made some noodles for her. Luckily, she woke up and felt {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(good) after taking the pills and the noodles. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}her fever was gone relieved and satisfied me a lot. In the next four days, I was taking her body temperature twice a day, ensuring that she was completely well. To our delight, my dad went back home safe and sound on Saturday. On hearing {#blank#}10{#/blank#}I had done to my mum, he as well as my mum beamed at me and gave me a big thumb. Hearing their praises and seeing bright smiles on their faces, I really felt overjoyed and thrilled. Taking care of my parents was, indeed and definitely, my mission and obligation。

A Bite of China

    No trip would be complete without experiencing the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (include) a wide variety of local snacks (小吃).

    Without a doubt, for the majority of the foreigners I contacted, and myself included, Peking Duck, Dim Sum, Mongolian Hot Pot were the favorite Chinese{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(dish). China is a place{#blank#}3{#/blank#}the food is not only delicious, but the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(cheap) I've ever found.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}my last night in Beijing before returning to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What a beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases on the table,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (attract) silverware (镀银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I was handed{#blank#}7{#/blank#}menu and found most of the prices{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(be) especially low for the high quality of the food. The duck came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations that you know if you've ever eaten Peking duck—a little tortilla (玉米饼) to put the sliced duck and vegetables in chopped onion, sauce.

    Anyway, I ended up ordering a whole duck and thought I'd just take the rest back to my hotel{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(eat) later if I couldn't finish it. Unbelievably, in the end there was none of the whole duck{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(leave) on the plate. Umm, yummy!

    Our local Community Youth Club is a very popular organization with young people in my town. I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be)a member for four years now and I've taken part  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a lot of interesting projects. These include fun activities such as holiday camps and discos. We have organized sports  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(competition)and we have even made a video. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it isn't all just enjoyment; we have started doing social work  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(help) people in our neighborhood. We have organized activities for small children during the holidays. We have also formed a special support group to help young people stop {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(smoke)! We are proud of the most recent group {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we have founded. It organizes regular visits to the local old people's home. The old people, who were very excited by our visit, told us their {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(person) stories. We sang songs and played games with them and had tea together. Some of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) were in poor health and were very unhappy. After this visit, my friends and I  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(decide) that we should do something to help improve the quality of their lives.
